Re: 5 Rules for Writing Interesting Choices

Wow... septuple post. Hazards of waiting too long to post replies. -- Good thing they don't mind that sort of thing here, ne? Actually, as Anima mentioned, people do mind. Using the edit post function is generally accepted as good forum courtesy. Double or septuple posting, on the other hand, is not.

Re: How do I create a multiple outcome menu?

Uh... not quite. menu: "Yes": jump choice1_yes "No": jump choice2_no just this by itself is enough for a menu. However, you need to set up your labels somewhere. For example, you could do it like this this: menu: "Yes": jump choice1_yes "No": jump choice2_no label choice1_yes: "Your choice was yes."...

Re: What subject you hate the most?

@LVUER: During the semester before, I took an Intro to Psychology Course and one related to Issues in Modern Psychology. Previously, I had also taken another Criminology course, Intro to the Canadian Justice System. Though I'm a business student, electives outside of the business concentrations were...

Re: How do I create a multiple outcome menu?

Ah, I just noticed now that your jump 'label's, you don't refer to the right label.

try changing it to

jump choice1_yes

and

jump choice2_no

Re: What subject you hate the most?

My most hated subject? Criminal Psychology. I took it as an elective during my third year at university. Reason? Heavily detailed cases on the world's most notorious serial killers and rapists are not exactly pleasant reading material. That said, I felt some sort of sick appreciation for the weird s...

Re: How do I create a multiple outcome menu?

The main problem I can see is your placement of labels. Your labels should be outside of the menus. Anywhere is fine, jump 'label' will find that label no matter where it is. Furthermore, anything underneath that label should be indented. I'm not sure if 'return' is appropriate here, unless you used...

Fabled Lands

... was the first book-based adventure game that had me addicted when I was a kid. Basically, it is a series of fantasy books that is really like a solo D&D game. You could say that it's a "Choose Your Own Adventure" type of book, where player choices determine the story, except your chances of succ...

Re: The Origins of Lemma (add your own mascot/name origins!)

As for our name - Mushroom Samba, Dee (the other member of our duo and the artist) came up with it. The both of us are kinda addicted to TvTropes, so it made sense to use a name of our trope for our studio - and a really cool one at that! Mushroom samba is "the implied or accidental use of mind-alt...

Re: 5 Rules for Writing Interesting Choices

While it is a good article, there's not really much covered on branching romance stories, which I imagine is the focal point of many games either completed or WIP on this forum. The article concentrates more on player decision-making when it comes to reacting to problematic events, moving from locat...

Re: [WIP BxB] Break Chance Memento

I had a dream the other night that all the main characters had beards. The game was renamed to Beard Chance Memento and the poor beardless antagonist's reasoning suddenly became "I'M PUNISHING ALL OF YOU BECAUSE I DON'T HAVE A BEARD AND YOU GUYS DO ):" I woke up very confused. XD I think stubble wo...

Re: RockRobin - Band Manager (Demo)

I was also sort of reminded of Nana, while playing this game. But I honestly think that Robin, despite any similarities, is really her own character. To me, Robin seems to be made of sterner and spikier stuff than Nana. She's made of feist and spitfire, and doesn't take **** from anyone. She's also ...
