Re: Flowcharts and Planning
I'd like to resurrect this thread back to closer to its original topic. However rather than talk about tools for plot diagrams, I'd like to talk about techniques, notations, standards etc. Basically *how* do you represent the dependencies in addition to the plot branches when you are planning your g...

Re: Project: Red Headed Tsundere (Working Title)
Serious question though: I assume being passive aggressive raises both Wimp and Jerk at the same time?

4. Girly: A variable, base 0, can be positive or negative, changes based on your interactions with Kit. Basically, it measures whether you see her in a feminine light, past her tough exterior. Keep in mind that pushing her too hard one way or another can raise your Jerk rating. Durn. And here I tho...

Re: Invasion of the Panty Snatchers
Thanks! I've been drawing boobs since I was 11 years old, even though I didn't really call myself an artist prior to getting into visual novels. It takes a lot of observation as well as patience in making correctly bending lines. Drawing cheeks and buttocks is almost as hard. This is a strangely he...

Re: Help with the new image gallery: events, persistence, thumbn
I need to investigate why im.Scale doesn't work. It's not really supported, in any case... my strong recommendation is to make thumbnail images, since they can be scaled properly with an image program. (Ren'Py's built in scaling is somewhat broken when scaling things smaller than .5 of the original...

Re: Help with the new image gallery: events, persistence, thumbn
While I'm at it: 1. What if my unlocked graphic is larger (or smaller) than the screen. I assume I can use some parameters for placement. Maybe wrap the image in a Pan function? 2. When passing multiple images to g.unlock_image(), is there a limit to how many I can pass as dependents? I assumed the ...

Re: Choosing an engine -- extensibility, encryption..?
Actually, keygens are less of a problem than you think. At least, according to studies that have been done by much larger companies. Joe Average, who is the intended consumer, is scared of mysterious programs found on the internet. Any cracking method that relies on downloading and running another ...

Re: Help with the new image gallery: events, persistence, thumbn
In the next release, I'll make public ImageReference, where you can write: ImageReference("eileen happy") W00t! Awesome. I can see the attraction of the string default (more natural language), but this function takes care of the more critical need - indirection from the file name. /me does the happ...

Re: Choosing an engine -- extensibility, encryption..?
The internet makes anything that can be digitized, incredibly easy to steal. There is nearly nothing that a simple websearch won't reveal. The only things exempt are the highly obscure (like visual novels), and even for the obscure items chances are extremely high that there's a BBS somewhere where ...

Re: Help with the new image gallery: events, persistence, thumbn
For #2, don't you want to just delete "persistent" from your save folder? (Sorry, I didn't really understand the specifics of your question...) See that's what I meant about something obvious... (^_^);; For some reason I thought it was in a global or hidden location... You can't refer to image name...

Help with the new image gallery: events, persistence, thumbn
Two questions as I add the last features to my little proof of cocnpet project. I suspect like many other of my questions they are fairly obvious but I've been staring at this so long things are starting to get blurry: 1. I want to reuse my artwork as the thumbnail for the gallery(why add another re...

Re: Cut-out animation
Since Ren'py supports movies now it really seems easier to go that route... I'm still inclined to disagree ^^;... Think of the filesize. I mean... I'd love to be able to do all my animations as videos and put all that in a Ren'Py game, but I really don't want to torrent some 2Gb file at the end ^^;...

Re: Hey there, newbie poking his head out of the nest
1. In certain games like Tokimeki Check-In, X-Change, and other healthy, family-friendly games of that manner, the text window includes a series of buttons above the text that allow the player to rollback, skip forward, autoskip, and access the menu. Is there a way to implement that in Ren'Py? 2. I...

Re: For Profit?
say $15-20 even if it's only marginally "relevant" so long as the art quality was good enough. I guess by good enough I mean it had better be moé not just pro. and this is the trouble. Unless the game is MADE by an artist, it is unlikely that a producer can reasonably afford good graphics and even ...
