Re: Destiny Earth: 01 RELEASED!
Hi Lee, I finally played this (it is relevant to my interests). Congratulations on putting something together! It's pretty fun huh? My personal impressions was that you were trying to bite off too much at once - am I playing a fantasy dating game, or a Trek style fanfic? I'm embarrassed to say that ...

Re: Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack!
Sorry, just venting, in much the same way that my car vented coolant all over the ground on the navy base where I'm working. And the best part is I won't be able to get the tow truck to take it out before tomorrow. Ouch, that sucks. Even worse is the repair bill. Anybody else but me feels like it t...

Re: Higurashi no Naku Koro ni
Yes.
I agree, it can't be just Rika time traveling. But there are other concepts beyond just branching independent worlds or singular time travelers. Again, if the universe of Higurashi is like a VN, then there could be are variables that are retained even through game restarts. (^_^)

Re: Higurashi no Naku Koro ni
Hmmm.. I'm realtively spoilerless, but I've been following Higurashi since the first season. You can't really consider it a case of parallel universes though, because there is cause and effect between each "roll of the dice". Last season Keiichi remembered something even though he didn't realize it,...

Re: Visual Novel/RPG/Choose Your Own Adventure Structures
Looking at those graphs, I noticed something. A visual novel's depth and complexity would be proportional to the difficulty explaining the graph structure verbally or in a single paragraph. Depth and complexity of interaction. Depth of character development, liner plot complexity, etc. are not real...

The repeated alligator violation crossed the line for me.
It was a line I didn't know I had, but after the fact, I am not unashamed to say I have it.

Re: best way to do expressions using miniature avatars
I can see how ConditionSwitch could be used for the desired effect, but I am not quite clear on the usage of ShowingSwitch. This is the code I found: init: $ e = Character( 'Eileen', color="#c8ffc8", window_left_padding=160, show_side_image=ShowingSwitch( "eileen happy", "eileen_side_happy.png", "ei...

Re: Minigame going away. Here's what's coming.
Well, danmaku in the Touhou mould is mostly just an abstraction for one-on-one combat. For something like - say - Nanoha (just to pick an example that I know already has a danmaku incarnation) it's probably a better abstraction than the traditional turn-based FF-style combat that people have been i...

Re: Flowcharts and Planning
rearranging the scenes would mean things need rewriting to account for what has / hasn't happened yet D: Sure, but the logical blocks of story could be moved as needed while the concept was still in development. Maybe I'm too McKee Story process focused, but rather than have sequences, scenes and b...

I'm not sure you can use "makes sense" and "danmaku game" in the same sentence.

Re: What is the best strategy for dynamically lighting my scene?
In this case "developing" and "not developing" are assumed to be global variables, is that right? That means also that the function is interpreted in real time, is that right? I'd thought of Ren'Py as something that was precompiled because of the init blocks where all the assets are defined, but I ...

Re: Flowcharts and Planning
Here's the tool. You run it from the command line, in the Ren'Py directory, using a command like: Actually, you know what. I redacted the file after a few seconds. I'm not sure I should release a walkthrough-generator to the public without first talking about it here. Oh wow... OH WOW! I was going ...
