Re: Making a video
Then apparently what I need to do is either get my hands on some expensive software...or find this puppet tool and figure out how to make it work.

Re: PLEASE SUPPORT AN INNOCENT ANIMAL
It's just a matter of how you think. Some believe animals should have the same rights (to an extent, they don't need to vote) as a human to life. Others (such as myself) see humans eating animals as no different than a tiger eating an antelope (or whatever tigers eat, I'm no biology major). However,...

Re: Voice Acting
I think what I need is a soundproof room of some kind to do that type of work. Of course, a good mic, too, considering I don't exactly have great hardware to work with in the first place. But that's neat that you made your own studio for it, and I suppose your logic on the voice acting makes sense. ...

Making a video
So, I can make sprites. I can make backgrounds. I could even make music (except I'm tone-deaf and have no musical talent or education, but I know what tools to use and how it's done). But I can't make movies. At all. To make an animated movie for a VN, do you actually have to draw every frame, like ...

Voice Acting
I've played a lot of VN's before, and Voice Acting has always come up in thought in one way or another. I played a homemade VN once (don't remember the name, and even if I did, I wouldn't say it) that was fully voice acted, but the acting work was...poor. Being as professional as possible in my crit...

Re: Releasing a Game or Demo
Uploading them to a website depends on your web space. Do you use a host like...um...what do kids use these days? I think GeoCities is gone...not sure about Angelfire...meh, if you go through a company like Google or Yahoo! or something, then you'll follow their directions. If you have a personal we...

Re: No artist, no game?
I have no artist, and I am no artist. I take photos of friends and trace them in Photoshop, color them, and turn them into sprites. It's not GORGEOUS, but it's not bad either. Mostly time consuming. So I agree, if you can't find an artist, make do with what you have, and it may turn out better than ...

Re: What makes characters likeable?
What makes a character likeable? I think it's relateability. (Not a word, I'm aware...) If a character's actions don't resonate with a player, then their motivations ought to. People instinctively like characters they can relate to. Here's an example: Power Rangers. The old ones, not the new ones. Y...

Re: Scene changes
Argh, it didn't work. The background ends up either removing or covering the sprite, even when I use the show statement instead of scene.

Disabling the mouse: part II
Now I've asked this question before, but I don't think I asked it correctly. Let me try a different tack. Let's say you create four backgrounds. We'll call them bg1 - bg4. Now each of these backgrounds is a list of names of people who were involved in the creation of your Ren'Py masterpiece. Yes, cr...
