Re: hiding say window

Honestly, I'm confused by what you're asking. Can you post your code and some screencaps, perhaps? Or rephrase the question.

Re: different art styles on same game

For what it's worth, I don't think it's going to be a huge issue. The original art style may have been unique, but games change with time, and people understand that. Besides, when you play a VN, the art is only part of the game. The story is the real kicker, wouldn't you agree? And besides, games l...

Re: What you see looking outside of your window?

@Auro-Cyanide: At first glance, that pool net looked like a pair of briefs. O_o I look out my window and see the sky...and the other 7 floors of the medical office building I work in. And a busy street, and a parking garage...and the Dallas skyline. Which, by the way, isn't as pretty during the day ...

Hah, no. I'm Vietnamese, but my fiancé is a bit of a nut for Asian...well, anything.

Scene changes

This might be a stupid question, but is there a way to change the background of a scene without removing the character sprites in front of it? Just using scene bgschool with dissolve makes any sprites on the screen vanish. Any way to make it work without that?

Re: Post your photo

Hm. Think I've been here long enough for at least a FEW people to know who I am, and therefore make a picture posting worthwhile.

And I happen to look EXACTLY like my avatar. Just less cartoony. Because I cheat.

Re: Turning a basic plot into a VN.

First, I make a very basic plot. Kids appear in another world. Check. Then, I create my characters from the ground up. They have full personalities, background stories, and other information that will never make it into the story/game, but will affect how they interact. After creating the characters...

Re: Image map...issue...

Aaahhh! Believe it or not, the answer wasn't what you said, but what you said led me to the answer! I mislabeled a piece of the imagemap near the middle of the code.

Thanks for that!

Re: I need help with animation

I'm a bit of a newbie myself, but you might want to start with your indentation. Anytime you see a line end with a colon (:), the blocks of code associated with it that follow (in this case, the next line) should be indented. Try going to line 14, and pressing the spacebar 4 times in front of it to ...

Re: Language Selection?

I do not believe Ren'Py has an autotranslator...and even if it did, you probably wouldn't want to use it. If you plug a block of text into Google Translate and hit that button, you end up with a mess, no matter what languages you start and end with.

Image map...issue...

Gah, I'm about to rip my hair out, and I'm sure I've done some mistake so minute, it's going to make me look like an idiot when it's pointed out. Nevertheless, I have to solve this issue. So I've created this imagemap, but each time I click on one of the hotspots, instead of being taken to the label...

Re: How to add an option to preferences?

It would simply set a variable to true or false. And at the start of any possibly adult scene I would simply check for it. If adult_scenes is false, a milder alternative could be shown instead, or even just skipped. It's probably better if the preference was set to False by default, probably.. :) i...

Re: Really weird image problem

This is odd: when I use the developer's tools to view the image in the image location picker, the background is depicted as red, and all the other colors are warped from their originals. When I view the image in Photoshop or any other image viewer, it appears normal.

Re: Really weird image problem

That didn't work, either. It just put white boxes around the characters, and that's about it.
