Re: BxG VN, can they succeed?
I admit that it is because I think that girls are more likely to give a purely BxG game a whirl than guys a purely GxB game. Which is most likely due to the unfortunate societal implication that there must be something weird or thoroughly unmasculine about a guy who would willingly play as/admire/re...

Re: BxG VN, can they succeed?
BxG is actually the most viable, but the ready availability of various high-quality, translated Japanese games sets the bar extremely high for any commercially-viable original English-language games of that genre. You have to contend with the likes of F/SN, Ever17, and Kanon, which are commonly cons...

A Couple of the Best OELVNs I've Read
Thousand-Dollar Soul is a dark, Flash-based visual novel about a broken man going back in time to turn his life back around... or is it? 35 endings, great music. I love bentosmile's work, having been acquainted with it starting with Air Pressure, but Enemy of the Solid State is a fun romp through t...

Re: Forever Alone: Nerds the Gathering [DEMO UP 10/8/11]
Thanks for the feedback guys! Lumen_Astrum: Glad you liked it, that was one of my favorite scenes to write for the demo. I'm sure anyone looking at all the photos I took for it would think I was crazy though. :P DaR: Jeff is probably the most referencetastic character next to Mike herself, so it's g...

Re: tell me why you didn't buy Vera Blanc :)
I like the concept of having puzzles in order to decipher people's thoughts, but yeah, 5 minutes into the demo and I've already been playing too much Hangman. (I wouldn't mind a reflex-testing puzzle/rhythm game type thing though, like the stat-building in X-Note).

Re: tell me why you didn't buy Vera Blanc :)
Yeah, it probably comes down to the art style/Western feel. A lot of the games on your site are otome and/or have this soft, anime-style art, so it mainly draws people who like anime-style/people who are into GxB. Thus the 3D-graphic management games or the comic book style mystery/detective game do...

Re: Fighting angels, demons and personal demons [INFO DUMP]
Over 36 characters sounds pretty ambitious, man. Keep in mind that you're probably going to have to sprite a lot of them, and how long the game'd have to be to fit them all in. If you're planning on doing paths then I recommend keeping them to like four/five characters max, especially for a first ga...

There are three reasons why I wanted to release a demo: to have a more immediate milestone to shoot for, to give a sen...

Re: A VN loosely based on Norse Mythology?
How are you going to work Ragnarok into all this? I'm not joking, I'm actually legitimately interested in how that would affect the story. MC is a valiant shieldmaiden who has just been sent to Valhalla for her bravery in combat, her ability to get close enough to influence the decisions of certain...

Yeah, I have a harder time getting into "EVERYONE IS GENERICALLY MANPRETTY" stories myself. Which is why almost everyone in my current work looks pretty much like people you would see walking down the street.

Mocha: The sprites are taking a while, but I'm glad you like them. :P Taleweaver: The Genshiken parallel did occur to me a bit after I started work on this. I'm doing my best not to make this seem like a copy though, and the end product'll be pretty Western in tone. Dollywitch: Thanks! Vectoring in ...

Re: Beauty and the Beast Reversed
Hmm.
Come to think about it, a prince pricking himself on a spindle doesn't make much sense, at least if we're going with the semi-conventional medieval times gender roles thing. How about a rapier?

Re: One Week of Eternity
I felt that Alyssa (at least in narration) sounded educated/mature enough at times to strain my suspension of belief, even for a particularly precocious eleven-year-old. Maybe 14 at youngest, even if that may have taken some impact away from the tragedy of the situation and her relationship with her...
