Looking at both examples, I still find ren'py to be very programming language-like compared to Blade. When a new person, who knows nothing about the two engines (and knows nothing about programming) wants to make a VN and has to choose one engine, they may come across our ren'py site and randomly se...

The seller probably has absolutely no clue about the product he/she is selling and must have came up with ren'pys moonlight walk cause it was the quickest thing that could be found on the internet which involded a moon in the starry sky. Either that or the seller is depending on ren'py's increasing ...

Okay, let me just explicitly state that lack of Y chromosomes is an explicit qualification for the VA part. Sorry, guys. Dang it, we need a male counterpart in the demo. Voice acting sounds like a fun idea. I don't think you really need such a high quality mic to do good recording. From what I hear...

Very very nice. The launcher makes the game making process simpler to use. Too bad that opening the "game" directory is not supported on my platform (not that I really need it).

How about a button to automatically submit your game to the renai archives? Just a thought.

I think it depends on how much the final product resembles the original work.

I don't think postures or style can be copyrighted, since copyright protects works not ways of doing thing. That would probably be under patents, if patentable.

SciTE is a good editor and loads just as fast as notepad, which is great! It should integrate nicely with the launcher.

Jython.. haha, I never knew about Jython. But yes, it looks unless there's a jy'game, then I'm not sure if ren'py will run under it.

I would assume what Ukio is looking for is an IE/Firefox plug-in which would play ren'py games. Sounds like alot of work to develop though. I think a java applet would read ren'py scripts would be feasible, but again, quite a bit of work.

The interface looks really neat. I'd have a tendency to put in as a autorun on a CD distribution. Since "Edit script" will launch SciTE on Win/Lnx, does that mean SciTE will be bundled with the distribution?

Err. yeah, I was trying to think of something fillup something in the resource heading rather than to have just one link on its own. Maybe your "Resources" heading can have a few subheadings on the line of "Artwork", "Programming", "Music", etc... but then aga...

Maybe add a "Resources" section to the sidebar, which could include resources or links to other VN engines.

I guess the author has the right to determine the terms of use for his/her software. Forcing people to open source their data defintately makes it less popular as most artist are interested in protecting their intellectual property.

Here's the idea. If we can agree that ren'py is an interpretor, i.e. all it does is reads rpy scripts and generates output, then based n the FAQ posted above, its licence cannot infect its data (the scripts). Games as a whole are a complete work, but license only binds to the engine and derivatives ...

OK, I can see that argument, but even if I wholly agreed with it I could only agree that it means by analogy that were Ren'Py being GPL-licensed it wouldn't force the game script to be GPL-licensed as well Yeah, well I'm talking as if renpy was GPL'ed, which I know it isn't. But the purpose of this...
