No, no. It's a clever decoy to fool us into thinking we know who he (she? it? BEM?!?) is! And it's okay to be interested in sex and sex-based games, people! Even the really perverted ones, as long as you keep it in the realm of 'strictly fantasy' and remember that the fiction/fetish does not always ...

Hey, good topic! :) I love discussing game structure... it's so fascinating to see and dissect the 'bones' of a game. We had another thread on this a while back if you're interested -- here . Definitely worth looking at if you're pondering game structure. I personally tend to favor relatively linear...

Re: Hardcastle and Cromwell Abandoned: Release In-Progress?
For that matter, I'd still like to see the community put on a contest similar to NanoReno where the restriction was not only one month, but that you had to use certain resources that were given for that contest. Sort of like the part of "Whose Line Is It" where they give you a prop and se...

I disagree that action needs to be short; I like long action movies! But I understand the difficulty of satire/absurdist humor -- I've never understood either the appeal of reading it or the desire to write the stuff. And there's no shame in not being able to complete a work (says the girl who has b...

If you really make a convincing character, its story will write itself and give you little room to maneuver any gameplay elements in. To do otherwise will be to create an industry standard... ...the spineless bishoujo game protagonist :D While I agree that you do need to make sacrifices while desig...

Re: Writing Characters
I generally find that when I can't think of a way for a character to do what I want them to do, it's because the way I want it to play out isn't what that character, were he more than a figment of my imagination, would do in that situation. Not to subscribe to the "my characters are free-willed...

DaFool -- It occurs to me that one way you could conveniently excuse some verbal blunders by an Alicebot is to fabricate a backstory that the AI character is foreign and is still learning English. I wrote part of a game using a shtick like this once. In it, you're kidnapped by aliens and locked in ...

After much fiddling with programming an interactive personality in IF, I've come to the conclusion that it's a lot of work with no real benefit, at least within the scope of writing a game. Say I have this AI-program I've written, Jane. She's pretty smart, has pretty sophisticated brain code, and I'...

You guys are way too nice! 8) don't blame absinthe for that part. I am guilty of wanting to draw and include both cameos. Yep, I totally had to have my arm twisted to add in a gorgeous redhead... not! ;) Oh, and, since I'm not sure I put it anywhere, here's how many endings are possible: There are e...

So many helpful comments and compliments! I could get used to this 'releasing stuff' thing. :) So a very well done work, I didn't know what to expect at all and it turned out like one of the silent gems, similar to Quine was last year, a special category of games. Congratulations! And the obligatory...

Dafool: thanks... you ain't seen nothin yet though. the character art is obscured for most of the game till you get to the endings. Although Amelie over there isn't really loli, I do take mugenjohncel's advice when I draw hentai.:P   edit: no I'm not implying there's hentai in Eid...
