Re: Please guys !
First of all you forgot the colon after each choice. Programming is very exact and if you don't have it perfectly right it won't work at all. Second of all (and that's an issue with the example given by the last commenter) the jump statements are commented out and shouldn't have the "pound"...

Re: New Art Style -Critique Welcome
The shading seems solid. The bent arm suffers from a bit of noodle syndrome that could be addressed with more shading on the elbow joint.

Re: This style for a visual novel?
It seems pretty awesome to me. As was said earlier, I don't see any problems with it that aren't just artistic license. I think that style will work as well as any for your visual novel.

Re: Having trouble with world building
Basically there is no such thing as a cliche and uninteresting idea, only a cliche and boring story . An original idea will conversely not save a boring story. You can get the most boring and played out plot tropes in existence and if they're pulled off well, people will give you a standing ovation....

Re: Steam release - combined distribution or no?
Combined is far better, as you'd only need to update one build, as opposed to 3. There's pretty much no downside.

Re: How often does one person create a full VN by themselves?
Basically, it's certainly possible, but often it's not the best course of action to make an entire thing yourself. Sometimes it's faster and easier not to. Usually people who do entire games themselves do it out of personal fulfillment rather than because it's more economical. Honestly, I do think ...

Re: How often does one person create a full VN by themselves?
As for example, I can't give you VN... but there are plenty of commercially successful indie games that was made by a one-man team. Some may not that high quality, but they sell well and I think that is what important, yes? Here goes: Cave Story, Axiom Verge, Stardew Valley, Papers Please, Undertal...

Re: How often does one person create a full VN by themselves?
Is it feasible to do one on your own? Does anyone have any examples of quality VNs made by one creator? I believe Digital: A love Story was made entirely by Christine Love beyond the music, which is Creative Commons licensed free music. Despite the name visual novel, I'd argue that art is the most ...

Re: PC builds/OS talk/questions
I suggest Windows for most builds, there's no advantage to Linux in terms of game development, and it's really more for the hardcore programming head types. This was true around 17 years ago. Actually, nowadays a simple copy & paste is much more complicated under MS-Windows than Linux :D Sure, ...

Re: PC builds/OS talk/questions
I suggest Windows for most builds, there's no advantage to Linux in terms of game development, and it's really more for the hardcore programming head types. I don't think you'll need to test the game on all OS either, if you're really concerned you can find beta testers who run different OS, but it ...

Re: Hire a coder/Buy a script?
You may just want to explain your issue in this part of the forum and if it's something simple people might answer it for free. If it's very large and complex you'll probably want to post in the "Hiring-paid" section. It's impossible to tell you for sure without knowing what you need. New ...

Re: Are game bundles a good idea for commercial VNs?
I'd say bundling is good, if it's the right website. In all likelihood that offer you got was from a small website that only bundles unknown "games". I'd only bundle with something like the Humble Bundle that has good quality control. Otherwise you are just saying "my game is not wort...

Re: Mixing art styles in a project
Two different art styles will definitely be jarring (in a bad way). I have had complaints about marginally different art styles with the same shading, so two totally different styles will be a kiss of death if you want your work to be popular. I'm sure there's some "artistic" way that peop...

Re: What do you think of my art?
Your BGs are fine for a free project, I think, but not detailed enough to be used in a commercial game. Still, at a low enough price I think you can probably still do commissions to improve your skills. You will easily be able to do commissions for character art though. There is some room for improv...
