That's an imagemap function... you can read the reference to it here.

Re: Playing sound upon hovering over imagebutton
Thanks denzil... but I think I'm going to need further help after all. I understand what you're saying, and I'm pretty sure I'll need to make a new function with an extra voice parameter (since I'll be using it quite often with various different sound files), but I have no idea how to go about it. Playing sound upon hovering over imagebutton
Hi, I could really use some help. Can anyone think of a way I can get a sound to play when I hover (not click) over an imagebutton? I'm trying to present the player with different choices in tone of voice they can use in a dialogue sequence, but to do that, they need to be able to "pre-hear&quo...

Re: RE: Alistair (Otome dating sim/stats raising visual nove
This was a really great game! I thoroughly enjoyed it, even after several replays. The writing was spot on, and flowed quite logically. The foreshadowing was very well-executed and just enough for me to guess which one was Alistair from the first playthrough even when playing a neutral path (possibl...

Multiplayer Ren'ai VN
I came across this company Playtiva some time ago, and thought they were doing something interesting. Essentially they produce multiplayer Flash-based interactive stories, and one of their products is a multiplayer VN ren'ai game that you can play with your friends ( Blind Date ). Not sure about the...

Re: Depicting Murder Scenes
I'm going to take a slightly different approach here, and say that HOW you show a murder scene of secondary importance to WHY you show a murder scene. In other words, the way you depict a murder scene can depend on what sort of emotional and dramatic effect you want for it to have in your story. - I...

Re: What keeps you playing in a VN?
Generally, I focus on the writing of a VN. I don't pay much attention to sound or artwork unless they're really good or really in-sync with the story. Having said that, what keeps me reading a VN is: First, premise. The initial configuration of setting, relationships and themes should be original an...

Re: Writing from opposite gender's view
Well, my last project (Wedding Vows) was written with an exact 50-50 split between female and male POVs, and it's been getting generally good reviews from both sides of the gender fence, so I don't really think that writing from the opposite gender's perspective is that hard. Especially if you spend...

Re: Fairy Tales VN
The idea definitely sounds interesting... but you'll need to flesh it out more. What is the point / purpose of the story? Is there anything that changes (about the main character or the world around him) by the end of the story? Is it going to be a Visual Novel (with choices), or a Kinetic Novel (wi...

Re: BTW #3
So... um. This edition was not what I expected. I had hoped for at least one or two more articles about the practical techniques of how to portray love in a VN (since it is supposed to be aimed at EVN creators, after all). Oh well. Anyway... - The editorial sounds suspiciously familiar. :) - Hime's ...

Re: Nevermore - seeking voice actors
By the way, have you tried the Voice Acting Alliance Forums? I know they sometimes work on voicing OELVN scripts as well (Katawa Shoujo and Senior Year being the ones that come to mind...).

Re: Wedding Vows - a Kinetic Short Story Anthology
(Lol, I'm constantly getting mixed reviews for this work, and they all have different ideas about what to improve... so... oh well, maybe it is a personal taste issue after all, not a systemic problem with the script.) @lunasspecto and Wintermoon: I'm glad you liked the structuring and the wedding v...

Writing snippets
Hello, I'm looking at some of the previous stories that I have written / half-written, and thinking about whether it's possible to complete them and convert them into the VN format. Would appreciate any feedback on the style / premise / doability. Snippet #1: Prisoner of War Author's Note: This was ...

Re: Wedding Vows - a Kinetic Short Story Anthology
Great! Thanks for playing and adding it to the archives. @ PokettoKunoichi: Glad you liked that father scene. It was the only new section I added after the initial script was written 3 years ago (I took out a less-interesting scene and replaced it with this one), and I do feel it's one of the best p...
