Re: How far is Too Far

I guess public release, but with a strong warning (like you're doing here) about offensive content. Let people decide whether they want to download it themselves or not. I mean, if people were willing to play OMGWTFLOL!, I can't see how yours would be much worse. *blink* Releasing this kind of game ...

Re: CONTEST: Project Screenshot(s) DISCUSSION

Congrats to the winners, and to everybody else! :) It was really enjoyable to see what everyone's working on (much easier than browsing through the Work-in-Progress section). We should do regular updates like this more often (sort of like a quarterly news update on all works).

Re: CONTEST SUBMISSIONS: Project Screenshot(s)

Hmmm... well, I'm not sure if this entry will qualify, but thought I'd post it just for sharing purposes, if nothing else. Note that currently all character sprites are placeholders. These are back-to-back screenshots showing normal mode, and a CG-equivalent screen. Wedding_Vows_Proposal.PNG Wedding...

Re: Indentation in NVL mode

Err... never mind about this. I worked around the justification by removing all Character objects and placing the character names inside the text itself. And found an alternative use for the space next to the character portrait.

Re: Science Girls! - an RPG in Ren'Py

First playthrough: Hmm... Wow, great main menu layout, seeing all the girls at first. Artwork for the Main Menu text looks a little plain, though, in comparison. Perhaps a better background than a solid bar of blue might be better for the menu options. (Minor fix) Character naming screen is clear an...

Indentation in NVL mode

Hi, Currently, I'm writing a game in NVL mode, but I'm having trouble with some aspects of it. Here's a screenshot. wedding_vows.PNG I've got two questions: 1) Is it possible to control the indentation of the Character name and dialogue in NVL mode? I'm trying to left-align spoken dialogue with the ...

Re: [ASK] How to Make a Bussiness Plan for Commercial VN?

Totally OT but I have to ask... Dizzy, is your avvy from Cross Game or another work or Adachi Mitsuru? Yes! Well done on spotting it! :D Actually, that's Kunimi Hiro, from H2. Of all the people on this forum, I thought you'd be the one most likely to recognise Adachi-sensei's work, eclipse. Glad yo...

Re: Good OELVNS?

Hmm... personally, I think Metropolitan Blues has very good writing for an OELVN. Slightly melancholic, and very high-level authorial technique in the treatment of themes. Not a very dramatic plot, but heavy on the introspection and meaning. If you liked Narcissu, this would probably work for you to...

Re: [ASK] How to Make a Bussiness Plan for Commercial VN?

Hmm... well, I can't say I've seen a business plan for VN's as yet, but I've seen some ones for casual games (unfortunately, they're all confidential, so I can't show you). I would think similar things would apply to creating a business plan for VN's. So just some general ideas of what to include in...

Re: Need tips on making a fighting game

I agree with what monele said... making a fighting game - especially if you don't have much experience - is not easy. You'll have to seriously consider most of his questions above. Having said that, if you're planning to work alone, and you're fairly new to making games and/or programming in general...

Re: Troubles with defining new Positions

"narrator" is the variable Ren'Py uses to contain the main narration Character object. Hence why it gives an error about "interact" probably. Use "posnarrator" or something else and it should work the way you wanted to use it. *blink* You know, out of all the possible ...

Troubles with defining new Positions

I've been wracking my head for the last couple of days trying to find a way to define new image positions which doesn't cause the game to crash, and I've finally given up trying to solve it on my own. Help! What I'm trying to do is the following: - Define a position, "narrator", which appe...

Re: Non-writers and their projects

dizzcity : Interesting! Mm... haven't you worked on a VN already actually? If so, were you in charge of the project or just writing? So far, I've been the writer and the director of all the projects I've worked on (Lakeside Sunset completed, Wedding Vows ongoing). And that's what I don't really lik...

Re: Non-writers and their projects

*raises hand* #3 here. Writing is my forte, but my skill is based on raw intuition rather than refined technique at the moment. As I see it, the best way to polish one's skills as a writer is to simply write a lot, and write a variety of things. That's why, even though I feel that I would like to wr...

Re: Wedding Vows (Calling for artists again!)

Back again. It's been a long time, and I was exhausted because of starting a new job in the game industry... but my creative juices that were drained are now starting to refill. I'm going to finish Wedding Vows. I don't care how long it'll take, but I'm going to do it. (Although I'm still aiming for...
