What would a villain do?
Let's say you got some information about somebody intending to assault your penthouse with the aim of stealing your computer and all the encrypted data in it. It'll probably be a small team, but well-prepared. So you decide you should be ready as well. You buy a couple of expensive security robots t...

New option for finding music - Vimeo Music Store
Vimeo, the video site, opened a music store . Currently there are about 45 000 songs to choose from, and with an excellent filtering system you can really find the mood you're looking for. It costs 98$ for a song if you want to use it in a commercial work , but for a non-profit work the songs only c...

Re: Resolution halp
That's an incredibly random resolution. Here, this image is from Wikipedia and shows the more common resolutions coloured by aspect ratio. Choosing one of the dark greens is probably the wisest at this point, as most screens use the same ratio: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/4/4...

Re: Implementing Chess PyGame into Visual Novel...
Since most Visual Novel players can't be expected to be very good chess players, you could get away with a rather simplistic chess engine. This 1KB javascript came to mind immediately as something that could be easily converted to Python.

Re: deIz (a freeware VN)
Game has absolutely great visual style, but is eerily quiet. Additionally, it serves as a warning regarding arbitrary choices. It's incredibly #@£ing annoying to track down an ending when there are about 72 different choice combinations and at no point to the choices give any clear indication as to ...

Re: The things people say to make you stop playing video gam
Well, I don't remember what they used to say when I was younger (I was playing, not paying attention.. :P), but now in my twenties I mostly get "Do something useful, will you?" I'm not a huge game-player anyway. A visual novel every now and then, maybe a RPG on the DS.. for the story, game...

Re: FaTEd: A Science Fiction VN Adventure
Since you can do your own art, and have a pretty interesting idea, I think you're off to a good start and wish you luck! The coding is never the biggest challenge with Ren'py.

Re: Anyone need a free background or two?
Thank you for submitting the requests, everyone. That will keep me busy for a while. I will make no promises as to which will be completed when, but rest assured - any progress will be reported in this thread. I started modelling the stage, and it's.. not to say a bitch, but very challenging neverth...

Re: Anyone need a background or two?
Hmm... this is free, yes? if you can, do you mind creating an outdoor concert with similar stage structure as the attached picture in anime coloring? and in night setting though? That's a real challenge all right. But I have to clarify, the example image has some characters as the focus of the imag...

Anyone need a free background or two?
I'm an architecture student, with something resembling a portfolio . I have some free time this week and I figured I'd try to make a background for someone who needs it, to develop my skills. So.. describe the scene(s) you're looking for and I'll see what I can do? If they turn out any good, I might...

Just use any other resolution that has 16:9 ratio like your screen.
1280x720 is a common choice, or 1024x576 or 960x540 in you're worried about filesize.

Re: Text Analysis... uh what?...
Analysis : luminarious.tumblr.com is probably written by a male somewhere between 36-50 years old. The writing style is academic and upset most of the time.. :P Disclaimer: I have 95% image posts on my tumblr , so it could only analyse 2 posts. Reality: I'm half that age, but dry and impersonal nev...

Re: Visual Novel Engine in JavaScript
Wow, that looks great! Thank you very much; glad the code was useful for you. I'm looking at your script, and I'm thinking it might be useful to add a feature so that instead of having to do this: kurara, {image: "kurara_unsure.gif"}, kurara, "I think I just made myself hungry...&quo...
