Re: Fungus (open source IF / VN program)
I'm curious. I tried the trial version of the VN Toolkit and wasn't impressed with it compared to Ren'py. Perhaps Fungus will do better.

Re: Newbie, still at drawing faces, but wanted to share...
My friend who is an evil taskmaster artist (well no, but they set me at exercises!) saw Face #40 face-40.png and said that while it was even better yet, I still needed to work on shading, because I was scared of it. And they were right, of course. So of course they gave me an exercise where the face...

Re: Patreon users?
Also, I've been thinking about Patreon videos, I've only seen a few VN creators provide videos of their page (usually, they instead post an image). So I guess the unwritten rule is, "don't add a video unless it adds to the experience"? (AKA, "if in doubt, leave it out".) I think...

Re: Patreon users?
Bravo again, katy133. And thank you for linking to my Patreon! As for editing milestones and rewards, you can totally do that. You have to add new milestones and rewards at the end of the pages you configure them, but they will always be reordered in order of $$$. You can also ask to be paid per &qu...

Re: How to code animated text?
Do you mean like titles or do you mean like sentences? Because the last one happens automatically when you set the CPS to something slower than instant (which it's set to by default in renpy). Go to the preferences setting and set text speed. If you want the text speed to be slower by default on new...

Re: Patreon users?
*shrug* What's begging to you is people donating to others.
I myself in better times have given thousands of dollars to people in need, to charities, and, yes, to artists. Because artists should be paid.
And I will note, that in the case of money and artists, only fans will donate.

Re: How do I write a strong beginning?
I'm a big fan of starting with the unexpected. Which is what in media res boils down to, honestly. Your very first sentence should be having the reader ask interesting questions they want to discover the answers for.

Re: Patreon users?
firecat,
The question is, why then, if you disagree with the idea of artists getting money at all, are you posting in a thread about artists getting money? It seems like this is only going to cause everybody strife and isn't really worth it.

Re: Newbie, still at drawing faces, but wanted to share...
Newbie stuff! So I can't figure out if I've totally regressed in faces, or if I'm exploring new terrain that will be better for me, or what. The top face with the pigtail is... NO. I tried some coloring and a little bit of shading, too. faces-again.png Here also are my stick figure exercises. stick-...

Great! I hope we get a few more people onboard. Or even if not, I may just spin it up anyways.

Re: How to enlarge an image without blurring
You can resize down but not up. Thing of it this way: when you are scaling up, you are trying to fill more pixel space with information that isn't present in the small image. As a result, whatever is scaling it up has to make guesses from that limited information, and blur is a result. A sharpening ...

Re: Patreon users?
Katy133, You said it far better than I could. Bravo. Also, drumming up support for a Patreon is hard. I've been looking at other Patreons, and basically the only way it seems that you build up over $1000 a month is if you've been producing for years before hitting the Patreon. The best one I've seen...
