Re: Introducing Family and Friends to Anime/Visual Novels

I didn't have to introduce my dad to anime... he was a huge 8th Man fan as a kid. :) (And one of my uncles - his brother - watched Kimba on Saturday mornings.) Sadly, my dad doesn't have enough time to watch much TV, so we've never really watched anything together, but he showed a bit of interest in...

Re: Get that thing off your chest... Now...

Every time I go to a gaming forum (or heck, even some smaller VN forums/discussions) and see someone say that all OELVNs are garbage and that the only ones worth playing are the ones imported from overseas, I want to blow a fuse! What I always think is: "If that's the case, surely you, with yo...

Re: Shout For Joy, Share Your Happiness

It is Ludum Dare this coming weekend and I am participating with a good friend of mine. She is an awesome artist and flash game designer. My son offered to create some music for us, but had to revoke the offer because he is going to Halifax to see his not-a-girlfriend. Susan So what's the happy par...

Re: Pixel Art Manga in Visual Novels: Need Your Opinions!

I approve of this style and agree with everyone else who said it is nostalgic. :) On the most recent screenshot, though, I feel like the eyes in the background are still a bit clash-y. They're pixelly-looking, but only in the sense that they look like you scaled up a small image in Photoshop, not sp...

Re: AIdol (Scifi)

I just wanted to let you know that I'm impressed by the triple-pun title. Wow.

The concept is also interesting to me, and Aiko is cute!
Since it's in Gamemaker, I take it there will be overworld maps to explore?

*One year later* I liked it. AWRIGHT! No really, thanks for posting, because I was just thinking about how I've been neglecting this thread and how I should post something to let everyone know I'm alive and still working on it! I'm actually kind of mortified that it's taken me this long -...

Re: Visual Novel Research, help!

3. What are the advantages and disadvantages of visual novels to ordinary books? 4. Why should visual novels be considered one of the good ways to enjoy literature? In the spirit of thinking for yourself (as this is how we learn best :)): How would you answer these questions? I'm sure, for instance...

Re: Ideas for icons to represent certain abstract concepts

For a few of them, some symbols immediately come to mind: Level of mutual trust: two hands clasped in a handshake Suspiciousness: raised eyebrow Cynicism: a pair of glasses with green lenses (representing the jaded outlook; as opposed to the "rose-tinted lens") Willfulness: a raised fist S...

Re: Post processing 3D rendered BG's... any ideas?

Wow, these are looking great! :D

I'll admit I'm a bit partial to Tempus' version because of the blurriness. I feel like it's natural that the background would look a little unfocused when the subject in the foreground is what we are supposed to be looking at.

Re: Help me make the best flyer ever

4. It is debatable whether it's a winning formula or not, but if I may suggest: before the club, make an event. I think this is a really, really, really good suggestion. I personally would be much more likely to come to a public event than to inquire about joining a club I know nothing about (other...

Re: Shout For Joy, Share Your Happiness

Recently on another forum, I posted some of my (rather depressing) thoughts about life in the hopes that I could find some people who shared my way of thinking in order to not feel so alone. Somebody there resonated with my sentiments so much that she asked me if I would like a copy of a really insp...

Re: Neurosky for VNs?

It would be amusing to play with character rivalries.

On Girl A's path:
"I've noticed you seem to get really excited whenever Girl B is here. What is that, do you not want to be with me or something?!"

It would certainly make it more realistic, don't you think?

Re: What was your first story?

The first story i wrote about was in high school in my creative writing class. The story is written in a first person perspective. I wrote about a man who wakes up in a birdcage protruded over a large cliff. I really like this concept. A lot. My first complete story was written in the 10th grade. I...
