Re: Idolcraft (RPG Maker XP)
Idol disappearances (and where to find them): Airi: - Just outside the studio, getting a breath of fresh air - In the park, north-east corner Bunny: - In the house next to her former office (where you stole the key from the mailbox) - Looking for alcohol in the studio basement Chisato: - Singing in ...

Re: Idolcraft (RPG Maker XP)
Good feedback, thanks! Yeah, I don't want to make the game harder as such, just crack down on abuse of the gambling whereby a player can save after each win and go back to a save state whenever they lose. Maybe it would make more sense to have them kick you out if your win-loss record is skewed too...

Re: Idolcraft (RPG Maker XP)
I didn't gamble nor use the bush, but I was still able to make incredible scores (the six idols in the top... six!, with vocal/dance/charm all maximized to 99, just before the concert). How on earth did you manage that? I can usually make my first two idols hit the top, but all six with maxed out s...

Re: Idolcraft (RPG Maker XP)
Finally got a A+, without cheating or gambling. :) Yumi, Sachie, Nanako, Erina, Chisato and Fumika, with the first two holding the top positions and the rest all ranked. About the limit for the roulette winnings... I guess it depends on whether you want players to worry about money or not. Some play...

Re: Idolcraft (RPG Maker XP)
I hope you're happy. You just kept me up from 2 p.m. all the way to 10 a.m. playing your game. Three times in a row. :D Having said that, I must say, this is one of the most well-made and lovely stat-raising games I've seen in a while. Replay value is awesome, character variety is great, and ...

Re: Writing problems
Err... no, that's not really what I had in mind, but never mind. Your diagram is workable as it is... I guess you don't need for it to be perfect before moving on. You should probably just stick with what you've got so far and move to plan out the rest of the days to get started. You can revise it l...

Re: Writing problems
Good, this looks better and slightly clearer, though of course this is just the first draft and I'm sure it can be better organised. I would suggest splitting the red common recess event box into individual boxes for each of the smaller events that happen after the character choices as well. (The Co...

Re: Writing problems
Essentially, you're talking about this structure, right? Each writer writes their own character's story, with choices, but they must all come together at certain common events before branching out again. And you, as head writer, have to determine the common events. http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y...

Re: Battle Engine?
I admit, I was one of the 6 downloads... but quite frankly, I had very little to say about it. It was okay. Not bad, not great... you've managed to implement the foundation for a decent turn-based tactical game, with unit stat meters, combat and fog of war. But personally, I wasn't that drawn to it....

Re: List of small goals for first time VN makers
Very good advice! :) I'd just like to add that "small" in this case means less than 10 minutes for a single playthrough. (Which roughly translates into less than 5000 words for a kinetic novel). Very very small would be less than 5 minutes to finish the game. To speak from experience: My f...

Re: North Korean Ren'Py Game
Err... actually, is it propaganda or is it subversive satire? The moment I saw it, I was thinking that it was a quiet slam on Kim Jong Il, doing some sort of snide commentary on his love life, rather than a propagandic piece promoting him. Can anyone tell from the script?

Re: [NaNoRenO 2010] Working Woman
Thanks for the comments. :D Well, I'm busy analyzing the results now, but it does seem as though I'm getting very mixed results, similar to what you guys have reported. Some people also had different interpretations of the choices, like you mentioned, sake-bento. Most people preferred either voice o...

[NaNoRenO 2010] Working Woman
Hello! This is just a short experimental piece I made as part of an ongoing research project, but since I made it entirely in the last two weeks, I thought it'll be fun to post it for NaNoReno. The point of this project was to experiment with the player's control of verbal and nonverbal expressions ...

Re: Multiplayer Ren'ai VN
Yeah, there are still some technical issues that they have to overcome, I think. But it's really quite fun to play with friends. Though I'm a bit worried about how little progress they seem to have made since their early releases. Haven't seen a new game up for months. Which did you like best? I tho...

Re: Playing sound upon hovering over imagebutton
THANK YOU! Thank you, thank you, thank you! :) It works exactly the way I wanted it to now. You should really put this up in the cookbook... I can foresee how it can be useful in lots of ways (I think mugenjohncel is also asking for something similar, but for imagemaps). Aha, with this I can finally...
