ScriptError: Can't find start

When I download Semester 1.1.1 (and other RenPy games, but not all of them) on my Vista box, I unzip them, click on the .exe and it starts, but the background is completely black and the text blue. I click on start game and it then pops up a traceback: --- I'm sorry, but an exception occured while e...

Re: Idea: Free(as a freedom) franchise.

There is an example of a game-making community making a pool of resources. The AGS community started building "Reality on the Norm" games which all took place in a central town, where that town was interpreted by each author in any way he or she chose. http://ron.the-underdogs.info/ The up...

Re: Tablets!

I missed this thread the first time through. I have both a 4x6" Intuos 2 and a Lenovo X60 tablet PC. I used the Intuos for a long time, but I could never really master it. Drawing right on the screen is really useful---there's no need to train yourself to draw on the desk while looking up. I ca...

Re: Positioning a RotoZoom

I'm glad to know it was a bug and not my own broken understanding of placement. I actually tried a bunch of other objects (all of which were going off screen) and couldn't get them to work and was all like, "Geez, am I *this* bad at this?"

Re: Positioning a RotoZoom

I tried that and had no success. Here's my minimum test file. If you can get the flare centered and spinning in the same location as spotlightPos when the curtain comes up, that'd be cool. I'm using RenPy 6.2.0.

Both files are transparent pngs with empty space around them.

Flare looks like attached file.

Positioning a RotoZoom

So, I have a big lens flare (600x600) that I want rotating behind a sign (500x300). I have defined locations as follows: $ spotlightPos = Position(xpos=100, ypos= -40, xanchor=0, yanchor=0 ) $ signcenter = Position( xpos=150, ypos = 40, xanchor=0, yanchor=0 ) When I do: show flare zorder12 at spotli...

Re: Disney Princess - criticism, marketing, favorite

Hm... I don't know of a Disney 2D movie that's come out since the Pixar guys took over Walt Disney Animation. That was a big shakeup, and I think it will be for the better... So far, pretty much everything Pixar has made has been excellent, and I don't see any reason why that would change just beca...

Linux, always. Python for everything. It's glue in my life that everything would fall apart without. GIMP, because it's not better but very much cheaper than Photoshop. (I have PS too, but only on one computer and I have about 10 more that I use.) GTK/gcc are both wonderful tools if you have to writ...

When I say "Well-edited", I don't mean you spent hours retouching the script. Edit != effort. The important thing is that the vast majority of your text contributed to the story or characters. I didn't catch much filler. Your story hit the ground running, then got out of the way when it wa...

It's good! Sweet, clever, well-realized characters, delicate writing, and well-edited. It's just the right length. I really appreciate you used a lot of background and the creative semi-animated way you used your sprites. This is a road story and you need a lot of locations for that, and seeing the ...

Leisure Suit Larry 1 had a series of funny questions at the beginning of each game that any reasonable American 16-year-old could answer. The questions themselves were a parody of age filters, but, of course, at 11 when my friends and I were trying to play LSL, getting past them was tricky (and fun,...

I think our community is so literary that any sex we include can be considered artistic license. :-) Individual acts of censorship are always stupid, and you can pick your favorite stupid moments from TV, film, and literature. But the overall effect of ratings are salutatory, in that it gives some b...
