Re: Drawing new linear and colors over 3D model in Roomstyler (free online interior design service)?
I checked out RoomStyler, and it looks like you have the tools to make an interior bg that won't be too obviously generated by this specific site. 1-2 point perspective backgrounds are so prevalent that whoever has time to prove you traced it is probably a sign of a stalker with an unusually idle ha...

Re: Looking for advice
For a fast sketch, it's very clean and wouldn't look out of place as final lineart. Because your aesthetics look good as far as I can tell, my advice is to focus on consistency. When you are at the inking and rendering stage, I encourage you to work on 2-4 characters at once. This way you can 1) avo...

Re: Pls Help with Drawing Tablet
Hopefully this response finds you in time, but if not, then hopefully it helps someone else ^^; If you have space for it, I suggest the Huion H950P. The other tablets you've listed have extremely small working areas and aren't the best for art programs. Personally, working with a small tablet feels ...

Re: Reference preferences
I've found Google Docs to work pretty well, since I prefer having all my information in one place.
The ability to add comments/questions on the sides of the document is also useful.

Re: Pain points of current VN engines? What makes an engine attractive to artists?
I don't think artists are motivated to work with someone based on the engine they use.

Re: Critique/help with a battle UI in Twine
I feel that you need a set of tables to help visually categorize who the characters are and their status (http://twinery.org/questions/41450/how-to-make-a-table-using-borders). Basically, keep information on subjects together visually, then add size and font effects (size, bold, italicize) based on ...

Re: Stock character sprite assets?
Something to keep in mind about commercial licenses is how much of an allowance you are giving a company/developer. For instance, Blambot allows independent publishers to freely use their free fonts, whereas major publishers MUST pay a license fee. Other examples are licenses per unit sold (usually ...

Re: Please critique this mock up of a game
I think you have a good start! I suggest avoiding using textures (like on the floor) and work with flat colors. Since you have a purple outline on what I assume is the avatar the user controls, I suggest using that same color and line width for anything that is interactive. It will serve as shorthan...

Re: Question on art references
References, at its basest form, are usually images to give an idea of what direction to take when creating a design. A good reference conveys what color palette, mood, level of detail, and style you're looking for. For the overall look and feel, screenshots or names of a few series/movie/game visual...

Re: I need help with Art
Textbox: I like the idea of making the dialog boxes look like case files! I think making the tab for the name longer (like manila folders ) and removing the rounded corners at the bottom can help with that. One thing I strongly suggest is to add a drop shadow. The textbox looks like it's getting a b...

Re: Shadows on sprites
Can you give some examples of what rendering style you're trying to achieve? (If there's no artist you can point to, a mash-up of two art styles)
Knowing what you're trying to achieve will help to pin down how to get there.

Re: Please state your preference
Have you considered an isometric perspective? You may need to construct some artificial boundaries if you want to fudge the line between isometric and realistic perspective (like if you want to add a sky to a bg). But if you want to have a characters walk around the full breadth of the X and Y axis ...

Re: Opinions on my Side-Portraits
I think it's a good idea , in the sense that the MC popping out of the side gives a better visual cue that they're speaking rather than just a portrait change next to the dialog box. In terms of getting the look of two characters talking to each other, having two sprites facing each other as they ta...
