Re: Question about finishing VS starting a new project
It depends on the individual, but if I work on a big project for a long time, I need to occasionally take a break from it by working on another, smaller project. Not only does this prevent/relieve burnout, but it also allows you to come back to the big project with a fresher perspective.

Re: How to make an art book for your game?
How about fanart/works of other artists? Is that beyond the scope of artbooks? Do you think it's worth to include that there? If you are offering the artbook for a price, I wonder how much you should pay the guest artist.. I think that's entirely possible. Autumn's Journey's art booklet included fa...

Re: Ways to end a Runaway story?
- Apologies for the vagueness. I had left things vague so that this may be applied to/useful to others (others who want to write runaway stories), but since the vagueness is making it harder to answer, I'll elaborate: Our main character (we'll name Hannah), a brash, snarky, selfish, and stubborn gir...

Re: On Getting Feedback
If you post your (or screenshots) on Deviantart, you can also submit your game to Groups that focus on visual novels, Ren'Py games, and anything your VN is related to. Asking for feedback on the VN's comments section may help to encourage people. Also, you can try approaching visual novel/indie game...

Ways to end a Runaway story?
I want to write a story with escape as the theme of the plot (in a similar vein to The Plague Dogs and Logan's Run ). The beginning plot points are as follows: - The main character is an underage (about 12) human kid. But has the independence of an adult (or your average kid protagonist from the 90s...

Re: Indie Game Reviewer in need of some Visual Novels to pla
Also kind of curious - have Twitch streamers ever played visual novels before? More curious than anything. I don't think my super lame voice acting would do a game proper justice, buuuut I have been having a blast streaming Hatoful Boyfriend lately. I know that Luchjins and Watercress Studios have ...

Re: Basing a VN on a historical figure?
I wanted to know if some creators have done this before. I got an idea pitched to me from a male friend of mine about VN on a historical figure, "Jack the Ripper." What are the cons and pros of this? Not necessarily a con, but if you base a story around a real person, you probably should ...

Re: What was your first VN made like?
My first vn was The Journey of Ignorance. It had very scratchy CGs, and I used the VN-maker, Novelty to create it, which makes the game crash if you try to quit using the window's close button, instead of the main menu's quit button. -_-

Re: What is the last movie you watched?
1967's Bedazzled. I watched the film with no idea what to expect (it interested me because it stared Peter Cook and Dudley Moore), and I really liked it. I ended up liking it enough to write a short shout out/recommendation of it.

Re: Huge scope for first project
Personally, I'd recommend finishing a smaller project first. Whenever you start trying something new, you are most likely to make mistakes, even little mistakes, along the way. Learning those mistakes from a smaller project is good, because you'd be able to learn from those mistakes sooner. You seem...

Re: What are the ideal staff to make a short vn?
An ideal staff is someone who you trust will do the job well, and won't give up on the project. Someone you trust. Someone unique who will add something special to the project that wasn't there before. Someone who is as passionate for the project as you are. Someone who will put thought into the pro...

Re: how much budget is very ideal to creat a vn?
I am a newbie in the vn making world and as hoping how much is the ideal budget for vn and how much is ideal to pay for staff? Thanks I remember one of my mentors giving a talk on this. Allow me to illustrate with a rough estimate: How much it costs to live: (aka "Scraping by") Rent: $150...

Re: Voice your Narrator or not?
For some reason, most VNs that include voice acting will not have the narration/inner thoughts voiced. I've always found this odd, because narration is inherently (usually, anyway) the least interesting part (and therefore, slowest) to read in a VN. Usually, people prefer to read dialogue over narra...
