Re: Visual Novel Maker, from the creators of RPG Maker
I wasn't looking forward to this until I just learned that they'll be using Unity, now I'm interested. As you know Unity is not exactly up to date with 2D programs. How so? These should give you some insight: http://www.teomaragakis.com/game-development/creating-2d-zelda-clone-unity/ The link you're...

Re: Mannequin - A 2D Character CG Generator
Picked it up myself as well. Looking forward to seeing new content being added, but in the meantime I'd be interested to see if it'd be possible to create new content for the system myself, or rather commission other artists to create content that would fit into the program, such as new poses, cloth...

Re: How do these 3d Models look for a visual novel?
For me, I like the body and hair in general, but the faces look strange but I can't exactly but my finger on what it is but for what it's worth I think the second one looks better in terms of face, but I like the hair more on the first one. I agree with gekiganwing that the forum icon looks better i...

Re: StoryDevs — a site for finding VN devs
Interested in seeing what you have for programmers as well, but I would also suggest allowing them to put images as well as text/code. May also want to make sure the text is syntax highlighted and not just text. :-) Yeah, I've considered allowing images for folks other than artists... I'm still not...

Re: adding automatic translations with Steam workshop
It could potentially work if you make all of the text in the game a text object. I just did localization for a title to Korean without modifying a single image just reading values from a file so I know it's possible. However, I am disappointed that you aren't able to have users execute scripts. Coul...

Re: Live2D Artist looking for Unity Fungus user for trade
I'm rather surprised that Fungus is still alive. Welp, I've worked on Fungus before but I don't really have the time. Let me ask my friends because we could surely use that offer of yours. Is still alive? I'd say Fungus has gotten stronger than ever and there's a lot of cool things coming ou...

Re: "Tab characters are not allowed in Ren'Py scripts."
The issue is that RenPy will not allow you to use tabs. Most programming editors have an option to replace tabs with spaces, but my guess is that option isn't on your editor or your editor does not support it. If you remove any tabs and replace them with spaces, you should be fine. Good luck!

Re: Does Ren'Py support Live 2D?
Nice, that's an interesting system. It could also be possible to use 3D models with this (I mean pre-rendered, like Daz3D and so on). For Live2D and other bone animation systems (like Spriter for example) would be probably better to display the character in real-time, to save disk space and to make...

Re: [Unity] Visual Novel Engine
That's nice, but what makes this better than say, Fungus? (https://www.assetstore.unity3d.com/en/#!/content/34184) I'm also worried about the number of objects needed to be created, say if you were creating a game of 100k words or something like a VN may very well have if all of the objects need to ...

Re: Getting Discouraged... :/
The thing about learning to code, is after you've done it once it's a lot easier to get back into the whole thing. Something that programmers may need to do is jump into a new programming language for some job, or perhaps you were working in one language for one job, and then another for another. I ...

Re: "Revised" Visual Novel Editor?
This is neat. I had the idea of doing something like this after I finished Culina, but now I'm glad to hear that it's already being worked on. Hope to see a completed version!

Re: Does Ren'Py support Live 2D?
The nice thing about spine and spriter is they're documented well enough that I can do a third-party implementation of one or both of them. Live2D has no format documentation that I can see, and the libraries are all closed source, so there's no way it can be used with an open-source engine like Re...
