Deji went all out for the art. For this project it was done on physical paper, the texture you see is the texture from the paper used.
I have several paintings from the game on my livingroom wall.
Edit: Thanks everyone for the well wishes =)

Re: The Parasol Festival [GxG][Romance][Economics][Commercia
Thanks to Deji for cleaning up the sprites. This update enables the darker skins on NPC customer sprites and fixes the "white mascera" effect. I've re-exported all of them with the cleaned art, you can see the difference here: Before After Additionally, I'm doing a traditional shoujo intro...

Re: The Parasol Festival [GxG][Romance][Economics][Commercia
Early update this week, I'm doing busy work to re-export all the generic NPC sprites after Deji fixed some issues with them and PyTom schooled me on my lazy programming. The Deji fix makes the dark skinned sprites work, doubling customer variation. http://www.mysteryparfait.com/TPF/DejiAndKittyAtThe...

Re: LiveComposites creating unexpected image loads
Ah. I didn't realize it was a straight memory issue. It sounded like Ren'Py had a limited number of images it could display at once without doing extra work, like some sort of caching mechanism.

Re: LiveComposites creating unexpected image loads
Thank you for looking into this, Tom. I'll do as you suggest for the composite background. I'm curious as to what the difference is according to Ren'Py, if possible I'd like to have a very busy screen at times so I'm interested in the best way to do these types of things.

Re: LiveComposites creating unexpected image loads
http://www.mysteryparfait.com/download/TPF_BB-0.08-all-debug.zip I've created a debug game, here on my computer (A Surface 3) the 3 adult male characters appear in the middle of the screen and continue to the left offscreen, when they're supposed to move from offscreen right to offscreen left. Here ...

Re: The Parasol Festival [GxG][Romance][Economics][Commercia
I'll try to figure out what's going on in the next few days. Thank you so much, Tom. After re-playing it, I think the "confusion" (the word is a bit strong but I can't think of antoher one) lays in the dialogue about Anise's arranged wedding. We got hint during the dialogue with "???...

Re: The Parasol Festival [GxG][Romance][Economics][Commercia
I'm still experiencing that unexpected image load problem. I'm trying to knock it out before I continue, because if I have to change how I'm doing sprites I don't want to have more content to change. There's a good chance I can write a text parser to do any conversion, but there's a chance I can't a...

LiveComposites creating unexpected image loads
It seems like a common thing but I can't find a cookbook entry on this that isn't something I've tried. Maybe I'm searching for the wrong terms. Anyway, I have a problem where I can't get my multilayered sprites to stop generating unexpected image loads, which I believe is screwing up my transitions...

Re: The Parasol Festival [GxG][Romance][Economics][Watercolo
Making a longer post. So TPF takes place in a fictional fantasy world, I have an unimplemented intro scene, but knowledge of the world should trickle in when it is needed. Can those of you who are playing the demo(s) let me know if you don't understand something? On Anise's feelings: I thought they ...

Re: The Parasol Festival [GxG][Romance][Economics][Watercolo
Anise's situation is supposed to come out through the dialogue so if that's not getting across I will need to know what you're confused about. Edit: I've updated the demo with the rest of the day's content excepting the opening narration, which I couldn't get to work the way I wanted. I still have a...

Re: The Parasol Festival [GxG][Romance][Economics][Watercolo
Double posting for great justice. I've updated the download to fix the crash and other minor bugs. I also removed some unneeded files from the download, so it's now 215 MB. Almost all the sprites are in so it won't increase that much for the final game. I did not disable clicking through animations,...

Re: The Parasol Festival [GxG][Romance][Economics][Watercolo
The Paper Mario style animation was a deliberate style choice like the traditional painting methods and leaving the paper text on. Lynae was invisible in that scene because you clicked through the animation. I'm going to have to disable that or make it instantly finish, I just don't know how yet. Th...

Re: The Parasol Festival [GxG][Romance][Economics][Watercolo
The paper texture is from scanning the physical paper the assets are painted on. When a character moves their texture moves with them. The character parts were done in pieces, not the same drawing over and over, and the textures blend really well. I'm really happy with how the effect turned out
