Re: Unpredictable story? Share you tips!

I love to play mystery games which are unpredictable. But sadly, finding unpredictable stories is quiet hard. And.. if I'm planning to make an unpredictable story, do you have any tips? Many types of mystery games. There are mentioned already "clues" type stories which I am not fond of......

Re: Game that worth it to be commercial? I need advice.

I've been thinking lately about this. Actually, what kind of game that WORTH to be a commercial ? They always say stuffs like this: Good games are usually commercial. The free ones mostly aren't as good as the commercial one. It's true, to be honest. Almost all good games are commercial. But, it ma...

Re: Need some help with plot plausability

Ignorant of Japan but can work in general settings advice: Defer to position you know best. Ex: -> child: constantly running away from foster home (even dangerous far away home) and back to your house. -> staff: mental unstable girl that calms down when around MC. -> parent: argument leads to parent...

Re: When you play a dating Sim, do you play as 'yourself?'

I was having a discussion with a friend of mine. We were deciding on if the 'Player Holder' character in our game, should actually be a character or her own, or sorta limit her so the player feels more placed. Personally, I don't really play as 'myself' but my first go around I play 'honest to myse...

Re: Whipping out a new style in less than a month

Why not just take a style you admire and copy the heck out of it? 0: +1 to this. Horrible artist here (and I do mean horrible) but if "anatomy" viewpoint is not what gets you "clicking", suggest you go back to this. It's not really that hard for someone who doesn't suck such as ...

Re: Time Management

I know this isn't my thread or anything and alot of your ideas have helped me, but it's really hard to stick with a solid schedule. No matter how hard I try to stick to a schedule, I end up spending more or less time on a task. Also, unexpected events pop up. Do you guys have any advice on focusing...

Re: WebStory Engine - A Visual Novel Engine for the Web

Was expecting text in demo to move ahead when enter was clicked instead of mouse click.

Good luck with graphical editor. Hope to see it soon.

Edit: Woops! Nevermind. Forgot you said right arrow. Too used to enter/space.

Re: Possibility of running online?

I think you're not asking online but e-license/Diablo 3 kind of thing from what it sounds.

Can't help but maybe rephrasing topic would get more answers cause you might get http://webstoryengine.org/ and javascript renpy answers instead.

Re: WebStory Engine - A Visual Novel Engine for the Web

Could be cause it's Linux Opera but button texts aren't showing. (Only for vertical ones such as what is your name) Would prefer keyboard shortcuts soon. (but it said on tutorial it has keys option already? Probably browser didn't catch it or it's not enter.) Demo game art looks god tier for easily ...

Does this sub-forum exist?

Haven't finished reading old thread yet but: tl;dr the whole argument between everybody. I agree most of the games I've sen here are not very interesting. For me, at least. HOWEVER, I understand people wnating to do small games, something that just gets completed and shown. I think it would be a goo...

Re: A Character's Past

Lots of variations but important key is naturally. Several top VNs are forgiven despite guilty of info dumps. Other common general writer advise is Show Don't Tell but rule easily broken and accepted in amateur works. Final key for acceptance is relevance. Human readers are egotistic people at heart...

Re: Tips for Drawing the Same Character Over and Over Again

Well easy shortcut is kinda like this so it exists. Something about several amateur mangaka helping draw over for head mangaka but group must be able to draw same characters across different panels. Know nothing about specifics. Think Gantz took it to whole new level by utilizing 3d models and just ...

Re: western style vn druid story

I am hard at work on a visual novel, with plenty of game play, done in a western style. A story of druids and wizards, priests, kings and bards. Does anyone have an interest in such things? I like the idea of visual novels but find most to short on puzzles and branches. Do post if this would intere...

Re: Writing Tip: Advanced Character CREATION

Man against Nature -- In a "man against nature" tale, Nature is the Antagonist out to get him. Anything at all that helps him survive becomes his Ally from the rope that keeps the mountain-climber from falling, to the rusty clunker of a car that gets an office-worker to work on time despi...
