Re: Hideo Kojima going to make LGBT visual novel?

Where do you get LGBT from?

They're just saying that they'd like to try something different from the otaku bait that dominates the genre - in short, an absence of strong moe or fujoshi appeal. I'd guess that it'll be a typical Kojima story with a more interactive adventure design.

Re: Shira Oka demo

I've only started the demo, but what I've seen looks promising. The basic presentation is nice, from the interface to the character posturing. However, the real draw is that this is a genuine love simulation...............it's a shameless Tokimeki Memorial clone, but we haven't seen anything like it...

Re: Not much good news

Yeah, it has been two years since I heard about Idea Factory's plan... and there has been neither good nor bad news. It's probably safe to say that nothing is happening on that front. The latest Idea Factory game in English is Trinity Universe, an RPG with characters from multiple series, published...

Re: How does an unofficial sequel become more popular?

'course, if I were a Square executive, I'd just wait for the game to be completed, then ask the design team if they minded if Square took the game and sold it. Chances are, they'd squee at the chance. The strange thing about Chrono is that it's the only property that has been aggressively protected...

Re: Love Plus

It looks interesting.

However, I'm not sure if the virtual girlfriend design appeals to me. With only three characters, it could get old and tedious pretty fast, regardless of the bells and whistles they include.

Re: Sakura Taisen: So Long, My Love

On the other hand, NISA is not perfect. I've heard the company's localization errors made Ar Tonelico 2 crash during a fight with a bonus boss. Negligent testing (and the crash bugs remain unacknowledged....NISA simply ignored any inquiries) was only the tip of the iceberg. AT2 was just a poor job ...

Re: Higashi no Eden/Eden of the East

Well I heard that the whole series is supposed to take place between 11 days. Yes, although that's probably because they crafted the show's structure around the approved length rather than the other way around. For the most part, Fuji TV (with regard to their noitaminA time slot) no longer allocate...

Re: al|together 2008 Day 6: LEAVEs

On the whole, I found the writing to be pretty strong. I guess my biggest gripe might be the occasional overuse of emotional hooks. For instance, the introduction is barely relevant ( especially the part about how special Matsuri was and how they were "unable to protect her". Indeed, that ...

Re: New VN Type DS Game: Time Hollow

the story makes up for it? The story is well told, but unambitious (forgettable children's anime fare). You won't find detailed narration or character development here, but it's a fun time waster. Expect to finish the game is around five hours. In a way, storytelling is a contrast to Hotel Dusk. Th...

Re: To Clannad (or Key) fans

Kanon was mostly fun. However, I dislike AIR and especially Clannad. With each iteration, the writers kept tacking on more unconvincing melodrama to force tears (often through something as inane as a curse, mysterious disease, or some other unexplainable phenomenon. They then have the characters she...

I don't think anyone needs to elaborate. The age rating is his personal suggestion (which also reflects what the Japanese rating board concluded), so whether or not others think this is warranted is irrelevant.

KID's intellectual property was sold to Cyberfront during liquidation. I think some foreign publishers are already licensing games through that company.

Re: Oplay goes live!

AFAIK, Higurashi differs in that it's non-interactive (what we might call a kinetic novel in the English-speaking community), so breaking each chapter down into small chunks would be simple. Whether that format makes any sense is another matter, of course. As a customer, I'm not fond of episodic con...

IIRC, you play as a private detective who investigates extramarital affairs. There's some gimmicky control mechanic that's used to spy on suspects and record conversations.

Re: アナタヲユルサナイ - I can't forgive you

Yep. Iwadare also handled the Kimikiss soundtrack.

Anata wo Yurusanai was designed by an ex-Chun Soft developer, so I'll assume that it follows up on their style of games.
