Re: Would you play a game without CGs?

Cinders by Moacube didn't have any CGs and was amazing.

They had really good sprites, though.

I barely noticed there weren't any CGs. It only bugged me a bit when I got to some of the endings and was wishing I could see the MC in more contexts.

Re: Queen At Arms [GxB] [War] [Fantasy]

A debriefing of the game's first battle. Ooh, some new faces here. http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y237/AsterAzul/debriefing500_2-1.png Nick is your adoptive brother, hardened by war into a much different person than you remember from your childhood. Fox is the army's spymaster, and little is known...

Re: Queen At Arms [GxB] [War] [Fantasy]

New battle! We have a ton of new art for the boys, too, which I'll get up when I start adding them to the game. I'm in a bit of a writer mode right now, so I'm focusing on getting the battles written instead of asset inclusion currently.

Re: Do you make a living of your games?

Don't be too picky.. make a list of companies you like and aggressively pursue them for internships. Then also apply to all the ones you don't like. Do you have a portfolio? Getting an internship is kind of a bear in my experience. You can get an internship at ID Tech Camps as an instructor fairly e...

Re: Queen At Arms [GxB] [War] [Fantasy]

Today we decided that we would try to lower the dorkiness factor just a bit. New linework next Wednesday.

Re: Queen At Arms [GxB] [War] [Fantasy]

What do you guys think of the design for this character, James? He's the young, cheerful boy who gets promoted to head of the Mechanists, the faction that provides weapons and armor to the soldiers.

Re: Developing a Soundtrack for Your Game?

Personally, I think that a portion of the profits to the soundtrack NEEDS to be paid to the musicians who created that music. Not through any kind of business rule, just because it would be pretty callous not to have them see the fruits of their labour. The people who made the game ALSO need to be p...

Re: LF Playtesters for Queen At Arms(CLOSED-Thanks playteste

There was a bit of Chapter 2 in there. The end of Chapter 1 is the end of the big battle-- King Kendrick's speech is the start of Chapter 2. I have to decide what kind of CHAPTER X graphic to put in there... Serenity Frost (the writer) is in charge of this, but when I say scheduling, what I mean is ...

Re: LF Playtesters for Queen At Arms(CLOSED-Thanks playteste

HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT INNER MONOLOGUE?
Does having the player think so much appeal to you, or is it annoying? What would you replace it with?

IS THE WRITING TOO SPREAD-OUT OR TOO DENSE?
Would you prefer more action happens with less words/gamescreens, or vice-versa?

Re: LF Playtesters for Queen At Arms(CLOSED-Thanks playteste

The writer and I are discussing making a style guide and cutting some plot threads, like the psychic thing with the maid. Basically, we want to make Chapters 2 and 3 feel much leaner than Chapter 1 in regards to the number of scenes you click through. I'd especially like to reduce the MC's internal ...

Re: LF Playtesters for Queen At Arms(CLOSED-Thanks playteste

What do you think of the game length so far? Assuming that the final game will be 4x+ longer than it currently is? Does that seem too long, too short?

Thanks so much, Haze! Great notes! Yes, these are all things that I'm concerned about. Thank you for highlighting them so we can work on them! Haze, Laiska, Sugar, I'll be sure to give you a special thanks in the credits for being our first outside-team playtesters. Next time we do a playtest (proba...
