Re: Real Life

I guess it depends on your priorities. Regardless of whether you are in a creative slump, you still need to feed yourself. If that is provided for, then next would probably be work or school depending on your age. The amount of effort you put into school or work will usually determine your results. ...

Re: Horror visual novels?

Fear and horror complement one another. Horror can also be imagined and magnified by the viewer. Carefully crafted words can be used effectively to evoke horror. If someone emailed me and told me in plain language that one of my close relatives died, I would be horrified. In such circumstances I do ...

Re: Horror visual novels?

It's alright if lots of people die. Heck, even a whole country is dead, I don't care, as long as the protagonist is survived. :( You see, that would also be a bittersweet ending. What point is there for the protagonist to live if the rest of the country is dead? but if nobody dies (or if only peopl...

Re: Otaku wants to legally marry a manga character

I'd classify it as an infatuation rather than love. Or, if it is love, then it's unrequited love because it is one way only. I remember reading a news article about a woman who married a dolphin; I forget in which country. Anyway, who are we to denounce someone who believes they have found their one...

Re: Horror visual novels?

I like bittersweet endings. Bittersweet endings are closer in line with our nature, I feel. A mix of content and sadness - or am I just an overly sentimental person? Giving false hope is a technique that could work really well! Instead of being a horror story, how about churning out a cruel story? B...

Re: Japanese translations (a proposition)

Perhaps you could incorporate a feature that places the translated text - whatever language it may be - above or below the native text. (Pytom? XD) It could be an option on the main menu. The visual novels produced could have the added touch of introducing players to a new language via this method. ...

Re: a game with real actor

Someone (not me) should make a mini-game with photographs taken from wherever and see how people react to it. What about The Question, but with photographs and images of real people?

Re: Non-writers and their projects

I read a quote yesterday - or was it today - that said, "the final test of a leader is whether they can pass onto those working with them the will and conviction needed to carry on the task, should they have to leave for whatever reason" Or something like that. :P A leader should: - listen...

Re: Best type of webpage presentation style for our games

I would recommend a blog at this time. The simplicity of a blog provides a number of advantages, such as consistency across browsers, loads fast, has few bugs, is efficient and practical. Simplicity also helps because, quite frankly, there are a lot of simple-minded people in cyberspace - most of th...

Re: To Japan or Not, that is the question.

It depends on your story, I feel. There are reasons why certain aspects of Japanese culture seem interesting to us. If it suits your fancy, who is to stop you from expanding on your interests? Japanese animation and manga may share similar characteristics, but as I'm sure you are aware, it has grown...

At what point are relationships considered common? Take homosexuality, for example. It too, is considered a deviance by diverse religious groups. Outwardly, they may grow tolerant of the practice, but also attach a stigma to it. The Encyclopaedia Brittanica says that over fifty percent of the world ...

Re: The state of VNs and their future

Instead of asking why visual novel writers aren't tackling other subjects, ask why authors in general aren't tackling visual novels. Profit, I guess. The market for visual novels (outside of urban Japanese society anway) is, as we all know, rather small. The author knows what they do best, which is...
