I don't see the problem with switching styles for cutscenes. Mirror's Edge did it, but except 2D cutscenes instead

Did you delete your old code, and put "screen main_menu" inside screens.rpy?
The error occured in another thread, and the problem was that they didn't have it in screens.rpy
