Re: Need Advice On Filling in Line Art
Can you select outside the sprite so that the entire area is selected, then reverse the selection so that the sprite's what's selected, and paint around inside that?

Re: Dray's Art Thread -- Quick Interest Poll?
I know how that goes! Hopefully in a couple of months I'll have a working script with some sprites that I can present to editors for a better idea of what I'm going for! For helping me out in picking paths to begin on, I drew you an image of a character from one of your old games... brace yourself! XD

Heck yes! I love that show too! Have you seen Natasha Allegri's Tumblr? I adore it! Dbellice wrote:A little doodle~
I love the style of Adventure Time, because the anotomy is so naturally wonky.
And it's so darn fun to draw.

Re: Cute thingy request
Ooh, if you open next weekend, are you going to open it up the same way as today? Would it be possible, perhaps, instead to do a raffle sort of thing? I have a feeling that I'll miss out on the shenanigans if you do a quick open-close, but if you got everyone to sign up with a number (if they posted...

Re: Sprite Expressions
Ha ha, for some reason that's going right over my head right now! You're saying that if a sprite has many different poses, clothes, and expressions, you should try just saving the individual images and aligning them via code in Ren'Py, instead of saving each individual combination you'll be using as...

Re: Sprite Expressions
Yeah, my biggest concern comes in when I start to shade or add details, worrying about them not lining up properly! I was wondering if people exported whole images for expression changes or saved just a faceless base layer and added the different expressions on top in the game code itself... but it ...

Re: Sprite Expressions
Okay, so I have a quick question about layers and stuff: How do you guys keep things on layers above from going over lineart below -- if that makes sense? I'm still sort of figuring this part out, and it seems as though there can be weird moments when you have whole new lineart/colour pairs on top o...

Re: Art Dumpage! Show your art ^^
I'm hosting a ' Draw My Character !' thread during pre-Slam warmups over on LiveJournal for this year's ArtSlam event. (It's basically a community devoted to providing a space where people decide on a concept they want to illustrate and do a sketch a day from June to August, or even just one of thos...

Re: Proportion Guide
Keeping in mind that doing any of these mistakes purposefully can also make for some quite interesting faces. I agree that they'd slip the anime-style norm, but if you're thinking consciously about where you're placing these features and proportions, and you experiment a bit with them, you can get s...

Re: -Done.-
The best thing that you can do for that is to look up skin shading tutorials. A lot of people use a fascinating blend of colours to get their image looking awesome -- especially if you go outside of the basic anime genre where the theme is all about churning out a lot, quickly. Namely, using sky blu...

Re: -Done.-
A trick that I learned from my many years of drawing dragon adoptables: some overlay layers (when using black and white) can make for ridonkulously vibrant shades that don't work too well. To fix this, set up the following: Do all shading on one layer, and all light-source on a second. Duplicate you...
