Yes, Ren'Py has both features, in all halfway modern versions. Ren'Py actually doesn't distinguish too much between portraits and backgrounds. And the slow text feature is controlled by the "Text Speed" preference. (an hour and a half later) OTOH, it really helps if I click submit when I'm...

Okay, well-ordered isn't the right word for the property that games may or may not have. Topological order is a better term. Basically, what it means is that if a comes before b in one playthrough of a game, there will be no playthrough of the game where b comes before a. I think this is a good metr...

Tom, at this rate the only thing we're missing is the engine that writes the game itself!
You know, this isn't the first time someone has requested that feature. But I think I'll have to defer that until 5.2 or later. :-)

A comment I have is that while the three bullets under "content" define three independent categories, each with multiple options, the bullets under "gameplay" don't seem to be as well organized. I think that gameplay is somewhat complicated by the fact that there are two or more ...

Why wouldn't it be allowed? And there's no need for the hxxp thing, http works just fine. We're cool about that sort of thing.

For the rest of us, the url is:

Last call for features for 5.1.2... I don't know when the next release will be after this one, so if you need something for an upcoming game, now's the time to ask for it.

I tend to agree with mikey that it doesn't make sense to conflate the content of the game with the mechanic of the game. Of course, I believe that it should be further broken down, as mentioned above. I think that it's important to distinguish a dark 18+ bishoujo visual novel from a ren'ai 13+ yuri ...

You'll need to check through the various release announcements to decide how to upgrade from an ancient version to a recent one. There may have been new styles and the like. For example, you'll need to add in the entries for the images in the sliders, if you want them. In general, I encourage people...

Of course. Basically, you'll be able to put whatever widget you want there, but there are two that really stand out as particularly useful. The first is the existing Animation class, which will allow muti-frame animations to be placed there. The second is the new anim.Blink class. anim.Blink blinks ...

They'd have to, as I don't plan to supply a default blinky-thing, except perhaps for demonstration purposes. I also plan to give the user two choices as to where the blinky-thing is placed, either nestled-in as end of the text, or placed directly on the screen at a fixed location.

Not like there's a big difference between 5.1.0 and 5.1.1. At least 5.1.2 will have some new features, like the ability to embed images in text, and even to put a little blinky thing at the end of the text to let people know that it's time to click. Yes, that's right. Ren'Py 5.1.2... home of the lit...

Yes, I really am procrastinating on the new Ren'Py feature, the ability to embed widgets in text.

Well, there are Artist's Alleys at many conventions. And probably the closest things to comikets in the US are some of the various comic conventions, IIRC many of which have large amateur presences at them.

Since I was bored*, I threw together a Javascript version of the avatar maker, with a live preview. Since I don't know the actual offsets for the images, some of those are guesses, and I only implemented a few of the choices. But if you want a dynamic version of the avatar maker, this could be a goo...
