Thread was dead

I didn't quite get Drifting Leaves done by the end of Nanoreno, but I've tried to finish it ever since then. Unfortunately, it's still on my hard drive right now, and still not quite complete. I've neglected it for over a month. So in order to get this thing finished (because I want to move on), I'm...

Every Fangirl Knows...

One of the things I've talked about for a long time is my take on "perception of shounen [male oriented] versus perception of shoujo [girl oriented]." Here goes. In my *opinion*, a lot of people see shounen as shallow or even stupid. There's a lot of anime series that can be cynically dism...

Good news: I was able to get GIMP to work the first time. So that means I'll be ready to implement my newly scaled images in Ren'py this weekend, and so Drifting Leaves will be a lot closer to done. My short story was flawed, but it was the first I've completed, and it'll get me closer to completing...

One of my earlier projects had way too many "hero gets wish fulfilled without doing much work" elements. Even though this was a short story, I admit I started worrying about that too. And worrying about plot - asking myself if there should be more consequences, or why the hero was being so...

Will test soon

When I tried downloading my own file just now, I somehow ended up with two .exe files within the .zip file. I never meant for there to be a "February and March 2." I was able to get some rough "test" games to work on other computers without having to install RMXP on them. But I'l...

February and March: short visual novel made w/ RPG Maker XP

I admit it, I made judgment errors while creating "Drifting Leaves." And now that Nanoreno 06 will end in three hours (in my time zone), that project is written but still not complete. I'll ask for help with ALICE characters in a day or two, once everything's calm again. But I completed so...

Facade; or, why I don't like plotbunnies

Now that I'm done with the writing phase of my Nanoreno game and on to the editing, background-finding, and perhaps improving phases, the last thing I need is a plot or game idea. But I heard about this one first in Game Informer, and once I saw the site, I figured, "Well, when I have a few min...

Ides Sound

On March 14, I finished 3 out of 4 story paths in my game Drifting Leaves. And as of this morning, #4 is done. So now I'm gonna start my hunt for background images.

RPG engines

To Vanifist:

The Wikipedia has a list of tools to make RPG-style games here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RPG_Game_Makers. The article on indie games might help as well: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indie_game.

So says the Taiyaki Fan. Watch the Air anime and say it loud: Gao Gao Stegosaurus!

For spelling? Characterization? Graphics? Sound? Playtesting? Or just everything?

Just wanted to ask and make sure.

Short, short reply

To mangokiwi: Just a quick comment before I download... your site is well designed. Me, I'm s-l-o-w-l-y getting around to correcting the typos on my site, and maybe replacing my template with another. So says the Taiyaki Fan, who *will* release (at least) a rough version of Drifting Leaves before Ma...

I'm up for NaNoRen0 06

To eclipse: I'll be in Nanoreno this year. In fact, I'll be working on completing a rough draft of my current project (Drifting Leaves, a simulation with quite a bit of story) by end of Feb 06, and then creating something shorter and less complex for Nanoreno. Trying to choose between three uncompli...

Those who know, teach

Thank you for replying. I have a tendency to go into inaction whenever there's lots of things to consider... but I probably should wait before purchasing a disk.

As for other obscure titles... I might mention them in future posts. Someday.

Tsukihime: the PC game

I would have posted this on Mirror Moon's forums, but they have been down for a few days. Like Wind -a breath of heart-, it appears that the fan translation of Tsukihime is getting closer and closer. And once I've paid off my credit cards, I figure it will be time to purchase the game. The tricky pa...

Surprise

I was surprised to see that J-List mentioned yesterday that Enzai's translation was done, and that the game was ready to ship. Hopefully the BL game fandom won't be burdened with a rushed translation...
