Personally, I would focus on getting the story into Ren'Py first and then do visuals, because we'll still be able to read your VN. But it's super if you can do artwork as well.

It's not too late, it's never too late. ;) The art is consistent across. I consider it a distinctive style like anything else. Your backgrounds really do look great as well.
