Re: Past vs Present. Which one?
It ultimately depends on how much you want to comment on the material you're presenting. If it's past-tense, it gives your narrator the gift of hindsight and analysis. It's a double-edged sword, though. I find that it's difficult to get immersed in that kind of storytelling unless the fellow is reco...

Digging the color palette on the last two. You've certainly got the eye for it. Warm, saturated colors in good line-art are always refreshing.

Re: How does a script writer(producer) works with artist?
In a good deal of university plays I've directed, some writers are kind enough to draft up a "Dramatis Personae" sheet that outlines what they envisioned when writing the character. Some are exceptionally detailed, which made the task of designing costumes and casting much easier. I would ...

Re: Should I actually bother trying to make a VN?
Plus, it's an indulgence for writers to have options/choices for the player/reader. Now you don't have to make a tough decision between two great scenes based upon one moment in the plot. You can use lots of alternate ideas here and there and feel good about it. :) I think this is the kind of reply...

Re: Working with others: Are we going about it right?
So, after thinking for a little while, I decided to continue writing and planning because I want to have lots to show when I start seriously looking for an artist. During my planning, the idea of finding an artist who didn't play a part as JUST the artist came into my mind. I've thought about findi...

Re: Which school(s) of thought do you subscribe to?
I think what attracts most people to VN's is the presentation style. The hybridization of various artistic elements into what, if done well, can be a beautifully cohesive whole. Attempting to lop off various styles of presentation into categories sort of lobotomizes the whole medium. What I'm trying...

Re: Sponsorship for projects
This is a good initiative you've set up, and I respect what you're doing here immensely. And that's not just because I may shoot you a project sometime down the line. I would suggest that you should definitely take some credit if the projects turn out to be good. An Executive Producer role or someth...

Recently finished Robert Bolt's A Man For All Seasons, and in addition to being fantastic, it's also really asking for a Japanese-high-school adaptation. Might be a concept I run with later on.

IMHO, final cut pro works the best. Are we talking about FCP 7 or the $1300 iMovie suite that X has turned itself into? Sakura Hughes, don't sweat the NLE system. Your content is excellent, and this is coming from a person who's been working in and out of post-production houses for half a decade no...

Re: Making a great Prologue?
Framing devices can be useful if you're in a rut. Giving the prologue a function in the overall plot at least gives it a baseline justification for audience interest. George R.R. Martin's quite good at this, as is Bioware's "Dragon Age 2", to pluck the first two examples that came into my ...

Re: Does fanfiction improve your writing?
Any practice is good practice. The real question in the practical use of fan-fiction is, with any writing application: a) the reasons behind writing it and b) the overall utility of the criticism that comments through commentary. I dabbled in a bit of Naruto fan-fiction back in the day (haven't we a...

Writer over here. Most of my experience comes from film and stage work -- but I can send any applicable samples/portfolio, as needed. Looking to work on or execute someone else's concept, but I've certainly got the means to provide my own. Open to 18+. Teams preferred.

Re: Reaching Out [slice-of-life]
The art was beautiful -- especially the CGs. I'm particularly fond of the style at a baseline, but there was definitely some craftsmanship there that really put it over the edge. I've been reading a few of the comments that have said that it was "short", as if it were some sort of criticis...

Re: What makes a successful IndieGoGo?
I'm just wrapping up a kick-starter for a film project I'm working on with a few classmates/collaborators. Met the goal and then some -- set a 500 dollar goal, and we've got $625 with 24 hours remaining. It's looking like we'll be getting close to 700 before the day's out. We did a lot of work outsi...

I'm a regular at the Tribeca Film Festival every year, and someone always shows up and snaps a picture of me. This time I ended up on their website in a photo essay. Go figure. http://tribecafilm.com/festival/features/photo-essay-who-s-in-line http://i782.photobucket.com/albums/yy104/ran1_2010/17-IM...
