Re: Could Ren'Py pack all game files after the game is done?
PGP is good enough to realistically stop people sending email to your friends (who presumably know you use PGP) pretending to be you, but if they wanted to brute-force it they could. The anal part of me wants to point out that it would be very hard to brute-force PGP. As in, stars-going-cold hard, ...

Re: Could Ren'Py pack all game files after the game is done?
That being said, I think there's potential in a version that requires people to authenticate against a server once in a while. But look at all the people who complained when virtual-mate required exactly that. It's doable, but people will grump about the privacy reduction and it will make the games...

Re: Digital Rights Management
Update: I checked out DLSite too and it seems CuriousFactory.com is their english/american agent. You can publish with them, the product appears on DLSite.com and you can get copy protection for free (although they obviously charge a fee for every purchase). I like it because it's being handled ent...

Re: Digital Rights Management
Well then, does anyone know any software that make trial version. I will make the trial period around 20-30 minutes. Timed trials are inherently relatively easy to crack; if you do want a timed trial anyhow, you're better off writing it yourself than using a stock trial-maker - popular wrapper prog...

Re: Could Ren'Py pack all game files after the game is done?
In fact, it would be really nice if all the files that make the renpy engine were packed before the release distribution using the same method as when packing game files, this way disabling the player to "accidentally" change something in the engine. zip archives are the worst solution pr...

Re: What platform are your running?
Sure, but I'm interested in peoples primary gaming platforms. If you had to choose between your Mac and your PC, or between Linux and Windows. I want to know if there are anyone who plays exclusively on Linux or Macs. Like I know Ren'py is platform independent but I'm curious to see how many people...

Re: Dungeon Master - A multi-user roleplaying experience
How would the multiplayer (at least the dual users) be handled? Since the GM can't play on the same computer of the player I suppose IP connection will be used? Speed and security problems are going to pop up in that case... Any net connection that gives acceptable performance for web browsing shou...

Re: Google Summer of Code
I'm thinking of having Ren'Py apply for the google summer of code program. I'm curious if anyone would be interested in working on a project over the summer. I'd also like to know if anyone (with software development experience) would be interested in signing up as a mentor. I'm probably up for men...

Re: Multiplayer in Ren'Py
Now, another possibility for multiplayer would be to have a game that is still technically single PLAYER, but also has another human as the GAME MASTER. The GM (possibly the game author) plays the game with the player, seeing all the player's choices, and adjusting bits of dialog for ALL the NPCs a...

Re: TileEngine and UnitEngine: v1.0 released!
Hmm. I'm sorry, Hentai Senshi, but I don't see either of those errors. Which version were you using - the bare game directory, or one of the installs? The game directory will only work with Ren'Py 6.6. And also, what's your OS? I've searched the whole game directory and not found any reference to &...

Re: TileEngine and UnitEngine: v1.0 released!
And playing the combat demo in square mode, I got: NameError: global name 'fmxo' is not defined While running game code: - script call at line 88 of I:\Creations\Tactics\renpy-6.6.0\Tactics/game/demos.rpy - script at line 48 of I:\Creations\Tactics\renpy-6.6.0\Tactics/game/combatdemos.rpy - python a...

Re: TileEngine and UnitEngine: v1.0 released!
Using the demo, I get "AssertionError: UnitEngine() must be called with a movement_style equal to UnitEngine.MP or UnitEngine.AP !" trying to run the UnitEngine village demo, and the TileEngine village demo does not seem to respond to me clicking on buildings. However, it's a lot more usab...

Re: Multiplayer in Ren'Py
There is of course always room for improvement and more features and deluxing, Not necessarily. The Ren'Py engine is rather large as it is, even before designers start doing dumb things like making all their graphics PNGs and including three megs of eastasian font to host a really bad Japanese tran...

Re: Disable Save / Load and Right Click
Try something like: init python: _game_menu_screen = '_prefs_screen' config.game_menu = [ i for i in config.main_menu if i not in ("Load Game", "Save Game") ] That didn't seem to get all of it out for me on 6.6 - I still had the list of saves showing up on esc/rightclick. What I...

Re: Ren'Py on Windows 95
Actually, I suspect that the minimum version of windows is probably something like Windows 95 OSR 2, or Windows 95 with winsock 2 installed. That being said, at some point in the future I suspect the libraries I use will drop support for the 95-98-ME series, as they are very different from the 2000...
