Re: To anyone complaining about Ren'Py's documentation...
An estimated 95% of user "examples" are using the most commonly used Ren'Py functions, and the vast majority of those already have examples in the documentation anyway. People are not looking for examples, they are looking for solutions, and you can't add a solution to every problem to th...

Re: To anyone complaining about Ren'Py's documentation...
Honestly, my first post was just me venting a little after spending several hours reading ffmpeg's documentation. 8) Well see it as a chance to further improve the documentation. Maybe its time to spend a few thoughts about how to enable the users to help improving the documentation. My proposal wo...

Re: Notepad++
haha, weird beginning :) But anyway, has anyone used notepad++ with renpy? yes I did, but now that I have JEdit configured like I want I prefer it to n++ for RenPy. Maybe if PyTom wouldn't use a stripped version of JEdit more people would like it. Java isn't an argument against, I run pretty much J...

Re: Ren'Py Roadmap
my 2 cents, OpenLaszlo is the answer, but without the look and feel and behavior like RenPy it wouldn't serve me a lot. Imagine being able to play the game in a somewhat light version at the office (secretly, but it's soo addictive ;) ) have the save games online, go at home and continue playing at ...

Re: To anyone complaining about Ren'Py's documentation...
Hmm, well actually I find most other languages easier to learn than python, don't know why, maybe because it's so different in many/most aspects. But it's ok, I have already added some functions I needed to my vn, so python is not exactly my problem. It's more that I can't use the real advanced renp...

Re: To anyone complaining about Ren'Py's documentation...
yes of course, I am complaining on a very high level. You already have a documentation that is very nice, even compared to many full-price products. I only wanted to point out, that although RenPy itself is also (mainly?) aimed at the non-programmer, the current reference needs the knowledge of a pr...

Re: To anyone complaining about Ren'Py's documentation...
IMHO the reference should be made clearer, more for a standard hobbiest-programmer and with examples for every command. In every book about any languages good examples are key. Small functional examples.

Re: JEdit Improvement
Should work, but doesn't. But Strg+BS is nice too, try it withEdit>Text>Delete to Start Of Line (shortcut: Shift-Backspace) deletes all text from
the caret to the start of the current line
Code: Select all
"Hello, my friend", he said.

Re: Ren py support for the psp or nds
If I can get a game that has passed 100K plays, has almost a 4 out of 5 stars rating, and still have only made $20 for my two months effort... yeesh! yiieerk! But rest assure, my comment was more meant as humorous reply. My daughter has some nds games and most of them require you to read mo...

Re: Ren'Py Roadmap
As for the features I'd like to see, I will always want a graphical language interface to go with the regular coding =_=. Like an auto-fill in feature or a way for it to remember which variables I've named and such ... sort of like an auto-complete. It would save me much copying and pasting or scro...

Re: JEdit Improvement
While learning PHP I just found this site with lots of free php tutorials, which of course isn't very interesting for most of you, but it also has a free Video about the JEdit configuration which is very nice. He uses a great plugin called SuperAbbrevs that allows you to to have some templates assig...

Re: Ren'Py Roadmap
I encouraged improvement of the wiki documentation , interestingly enough not many users seemed to be in need of more documentation. Maybe the topic should be made a Sticky so that ppl can see it. I still vote for an increased support of the Renpy documentation in a way that a non-PyTom can underst...
