Re: Cavaliers & Carnivals [KN][fantasy/adventure, friendship
Raj's sprites are just about done! Gotta change the overlays with the arms/hands... http://i1356.photobucket.com/albums/q732/Green-Glasses/C%20and%20C/WIP/raj%20sprite%20thumb_zpsof1bfsf3.jpg I am now finished with all of the main characters! I'll be working on the minor ones now. I need to figure o...

Re: The Life Threads [KN][SunNoFes][Desert Adventure]
I just finished! I am impressed! I can hardly put one VN together and you got this out in such a short time with such an engaging story and characters! Ife and Manaem were great- they were pretty solid characters. I liked the relationship between the both of them too. The Calikoh is also a super int...

^Beat me to it.
I second on recommending to read the thread by obscura - specifically this post: http://lemmasoft.renai.us/forums/viewto ... 42#p246657 (a long one, but if you're serious about crowdfunding, definitely worth a look)

Re: Satoru Iwata: RIP
"Above all, video games are meant to just be one thing: Fun for everyone." - Satoru Iwata As a huge Nintendo fan for years, this statement is something that holds dear to me - he just got it . And maybe there are developers who wouldn't believe the same thing - some make games solely to e...

Re: Cavaliers & Carnivals [KN][fantasy/adventure, friendship
Thank you, Googaboga! Nothing much to report this week other than wrapping up Raj's sprite. After that will be a big sigh of relief - that means all of the MCs will be completed, and I can move on to minor characters (who only have one outfit each...seriously, the multiple outfits is what has been t...

Re: Meryl & August [Adventure, slight GxB] New Demo!
Sorry it took me so long! I had a draft of this saved and I never got around to writing up my thoughts! OTL Anyway, I enjoyed this demo even more than the first! My feedback: I love Gregor and he might be my favorite character so far (love the grumpy guys). I'm actually interested in learning a litt...

Re: How is your project going (or not going)?
Getting there. The sprites are taking me ages because they have so many outfits. Next VN I get to, everyone will only have one outfit. Lessons learned!

Re: Hazel-Buns Art Dump [Critique Welcomed] [6/7]
Hi Hazel-bun! I'm definitely liking the variety and diversity of your characters - it really makes them stand out! I think a helpful exercise would be to try drawing heads at different angles? Some examples would be: head-perspective.jpg Head_Perspective_Chart_by_yuumei.jpg It's good practice and go...

Re: Drawing characters: Anatomically correct vs. looks good
3) what is attractive about the 'looks good' version what can't be added to the anatomically correct one? or, what can I do to the anatomically correct one to give it the quality I like in the 'looks good' version? Pretty much this. There are many quotes in the drawing world that pretty much sum up...

Re: Resources for using photos as BGs?
You cannot take images from Wikipedia as those are usually credited in the footnotes of those pages/entries. Wikimedia is the free image database. Don't get the two confused!MondayMagic wrote:Thanks! I didn't even think about Wikipedia.

Re: Resources for using photos as BGs?
As a general rule, you should never use an image you find online unless you have the permission of the artist/photographer/creator, even if your work is non-commercial. There are plenty of resources that you can use for free, like Wikimedia Commons , but read their guide on reusing their images (as ...

^Thank you, Laluune! I've made a steady recovery, so it's back to work! Note: I fixed the links in the first posts of the thumbnail images. All of Barn's sprites are complete. I think he turned out much better than the sketch: http://i1356.photobucket.com/albums/q732/Green-Glasses/C%20and%20C/WIP/ba...

^Agreed. I guess what can be said all around is that KNs have to go a step further than traditional VNs.

Re: How to make a KN appealing?
Apparent mediocrity is unlikely to be tolerated. But...isn't Umineko a kinetic novel? And even with its first version where the original sprite work was poor, Umineko was wildly successful. Then again, I don't know how marketing strategies went about. I'm adding that I don't think there's a one-way...
