Re: Questions on various of noob questions, really need help
I would say that you should never be afraid to ask questions, especially if you're unclear on something in the tutorials. Most of the people here seem pretty generous with answering them (unlike many other online communities where you will be called a noob). Ren'Py's more advanced features can certa...

Re: Auro's Random VN Stuff
Realistically, even if one is naturally ambidextrous (something like less than 1% of the population), dual wielding anything generally doesn't seem to make much sense or give anyone an advantage in most realistic situations. But we can all agree that it tends to make the character look at least twic...

Re: Auro's Random VN Stuff
I would agree that bigger swords would be harder to handle than small swords, there is little argument in that point. The really big swords, such as the zweihander (which most that were actually for combat probably weighed 7 lbs.) or the odachi (which probably weighed less) were not designed for &qu...

Re: Auro's Random VN Stuff
Hmmm, you also have a good point Lvuer. My story is definitely not realistic, too much weird stuff happens for that. I had given her a light long-sword, but I wonder if I could have her with something else. I wonder how people respond to that. Would they think it was too weird if she had a sword th...

Re: Looking to form/join a hobbyist VN group.
It sounds good... but sci-fi and fantasy are a turn off for me... Maybe when I have something to showcase, then I can see if there are groups to join. Understandable. Not everyone has the same tastes, after all. I don't necessarily want to limit myself to a particular genre, personally, but I do pr...

Re: Fantasy RPG Stereotypes
Remember, tropes are not bad. Even a Cliche Storm can be good. (I've been a fanboy of translated RPGs for years, so I can testify to this.) Also, don't miss out on the Bioware Cliche Chart at http://hellforge.gameriot.com/blogs/Hellforge/Bioware-RPG-Cliche-Chart Oh, I agree. You'll be hard pressed ...

Re: [Artist Needed] How to Be a Successful Villain
Will this game feature the option to have long lost progeny, and include climactic moments in which you can reveal to them that you weren't the one who killed their father/mother, but rather, you are their father/mother?

Re: Looking to form/join a hobbyist VN group.
It doesn't sound like you're looking to join a VN hobbying group. It sort of sounds like you're interested in making your VN and you're recruiting for that project. That is sort of what it has become at the moment, but the original intent of the post was to find people who may have similar tastes i...

You may also want to look at this for a more general overview of a pattern many fantasy stories follow:

Many fantasy stories (and other genres as well) in general will follow the Monomyth formula.

Re: Questions about VNs
Speaking of siblings, one thing that kinda makes me sick to the core, is the relationship that some VNs provide concerning having a romantic relationship with a sibling (usually its a little sister that you find out isn't actually related to you), but I still find it to be rather grotesque for that...

Re: Questions about VNs
C. Childhood pals (No one I know has a "childhood pal" of the opposite gender) ^Actually this happens a lot (I'm an uber girly-girl and even I used to play with boys up until a certain age, and I have many male friends now) but if they're still friends I'd think the girl would have to hav...

All very good points, and at this point I'd like to thank you all for your time and thoughts. I still wish to hear more about your opinions, so feel free to keep writing, but I wish to throw my own opinion out there as well: A) Two guys, several girls, and a school: Normally, when you play a visual...

Re: Questions about VNs
Personally annoying to me: - Useless otome / reverse harem protagonists. A girl who is extremely lackluster who does next to nothing. Even though the story includes other female characters which are both more attractive and more interesting, all the bishounen flock to this completely boring charact...
