Re: Winged Cloud Worker Exploitation

I'd be interested in seeing what others think as well. I saw the video this morning and was shocked at how bad it is and long running this seems to be.

Re: Is controversial alright?

Controversial subjects are fine, it's mainly the execution of how you do it. If you're doing it purely because you feel you can and for shock value 99% of the time it'll fall flat when it comes to execution. People tend to not like having topics like rape brought into the story if it's mainly to sho...

Re: learning to program

As someone currently at uni with a programming module, I learned just as much online, if not more than I have from my tutor about programming. Especially if you're using Ren'Py. The engine is noticeably easier to code a basic VN for than other platforms. I don't have any other suggestions apar from ...

It's not required, but I would highly suggest it.

Re: Manipulation [Fantasy]

Another update for this game. Whilst the demo is still up and will remain available for download, I've decided to completely redo the project from scratch. This was a decision made after a number of rewrites over the past year and a half (I've probably written about 200k words in total, so it pains ...

Re: Favorite English Visual Novel?

Whilst I adore Doki Doki for what it did, it's not my favourite. That spot is still owned by Katawa Shoujo. In terms of premise it's really not anything special, but I found the execution in it to be consistently great. The art in it is beautiful and given how many people were working on it, surpris...

Re: Making a new visual novel

You're recruiting in the wrong part of the forum. You also need far more detail regarding the project in the post before attempting to make a recruitment post, just saying it's a typical high school anime isn't a good description.

Happens to me sometimes, I usually go back to active topics and try it again, usually fixes itself after a try or two.

Re: What makes a good Fighting/Action Scene?

Something you should also keep in consideration is that visual novels are also a heavily visual medium, so you don't have to purely utilise the writing to have the player visualise the scene, you have actual visual elements you can use as well. Take Fate/Stay Night, it has a lot of reuseable CGs of ...

Re: Having trouble with world building

I think the first question you should have is, what is the history of your world? Does it follow the same history as our world? If so, you can use worldwide events such as the world wars to explain that those incredibly destructive events either inadvertently killed many of the species in question, ...

I mean once I finally release my project, I'd be more than willing to promote fanworks and such.

Re: Can I really call my game a VN?

It sounds like it fits the VN definition very well. VN mainly refers to the still portraits, choice based branching narrative presentation and gameplay. Adding extra gameplay and such onto that is completely fine and doesn't generally detract from the VN definition. Also, don't worry about it being ...
