Re: The last book you read or what are you reading right now

I recently finished reading Giovanni's Room. It was beautiful...such a dream to read it. Now I feel bad for skipping out on reading Go Tell it on a Mountain when we had it assigned in highschool. -_- Maybe I'll go back and read that.

Re: What was your first VN made like?

I tried making one about 10 years ago when I was 12...it was a BxB about two kids on summer vacation. One was grouchy, the other one overly-friendly. I was too young to see it through and too naive about the bullying/abuse themes that it was trying to tackle. It's unfinished and won't see the light ...

Re: Would this possibly be easier to script like?

I approach visual novel writing differently than I do with other forms of prose. I suppose the most similar way may be a play script. I keep descriptions minimal because the visuals can do that work for me. It's not a two-column approach, but I make sure to put in #comments (the hashtag tells Ren'py...

Thanks for the nice comments, everyone! Glad you guys had fun. Making this was a joy and a half. @tilly: *SCREAMS AGAIN* @Heiden: Tilly pretty much answered this. There's a couple of ways to answer the quiz so she lives. Tilly's method is one of the ones that works. @Fake Existence & idkwhatuser...

Fairly Dangerous [Dark Comedy][NaNoReno2015]

Fairly Dangerous [/size] We've seen it before: human gets put in a new fantasy environment and the natural world helps enlighten him to the harshness of an industry. Fern Gully and Avatar, I'm looking at you. But what happens when the opposite takes place? Five tiny fairy friends are about to find ...

Dark Fairy Visual Novel [Mostly Closed][Nano15]

Hi there! Do you like blue cat-like aliens or tiny forest fairies? Are you familiar with apartments as rancid and cockroach-infested as Joe's? Do you ever find yourself laughing maniacally when cute things die? If so, you've come to the right recruitment thread. What we've got here is a project that...

Re: Obscure Research Resources

Little Details is an amazing resource. I think it's exactly what you're looking for, Caveat Lector. If you're a university student, tap into your school's library research databases. I've got access to thousands of articles across many journals, academic & otherwise, because of it. The research...

Re: How do you outline your game?

It's hard for me to deal with visual flowchart types of programs. I prefer just writing out a list of what I need to do, like paragraph descriptions of what's going to happen. Putting it into chart form slows down my process too much. I think the cleanest outline example I have is for The Mishka Eff...

Re: How many people play with sound?

All creators should put audio into their visual novels because there will always be at least one player who plays your VN with sound. :D I love finding music & sfx to fit with the scenes that I'm writing. It takes a while to find the perfect music when you don't have a musician on your team, but...

Ooh! You have such a fun style!! Since you're still taking requests... How about someone from The Mishka Effect (maybe Mr. Coworker, the guy with short hair and bandaids on his face seen in the screenshot or Veronica)? :D

Re: Writing a Visual Novel for NaNoWriMo!

There's a thread talking about Nanowrimo over here . I'm trying to increase the wordcount for one of my projects. The goal is to get the first draft of the story done by the end of the month, no matter how many words that winds up being. I'm so slow, though...I feel like I'm letting every possible o...

Re: Best website for hosting downloads?

I suggest spreading out your methods rather than going with a single choice. Having mirrors for your downloads gives people more options, and also gives people a way to still get your games if a particular site ever goes down. I haven't used it myself, but there's also IndieDB where you can put up a...

Thank you for the kind words, everyone! If we ever update it, we'll be sure to correct the bugs/mistakes that were found. Saving Zoey wound up ranking #5 out of the 50 games in the jam. Not bad at all, especially considering we weren't canvassing for votes or anything! @ AmericaTheBeautiful: Origina...

Re: A Medical Detective [Medical][Puzzle][Detective][Commerc

I suggest looking up videos, or even playing if you have a Wii, Dr. Gabriel Cunningham's sections of the game Trauma Team. His part of the game was very well done & very medical investigation-ish. Maybe you can incorporate some of the features from his section of the game. It struck the right ba...
