Re: support for image anti-aliasing

"Color to alpha" in GIMP would probably yield a better result, since it creates gradual transparency, and at the same time removes even the slightest hints of the original background colour. For an explanation, look at the "Why Not a Selection" section at http://www.gimp.org/tuto...

Re: support for image anti-aliasing

If the jagged edges are already in the original images, then no function can get rid of that - antialiasing is a function used in connection with image manipulation (such as resizing, rotating etc.).

Re: Yaruge or Teen-rated project?

No clue what yaruge means, sorry. But anyway I'd prefer you spending your time on something you really like to do. That said, I like romance more than 18+ (although one doesn't exclude the other). But if the romantic option is the classical school romance, then I'd rather take 18+, thank you. ^_^

Re: I have a couple of Ren'Py Questions. Please assist me.

Anyway, I don't have Photoshop or Paint Shop. Is there any other way to figure out the [color] codes? Google is your friend: http://www.pitt.edu/~nisg/cis/web/cgi/rgb.html Also, can you tell me how to position images? The previous method didn't work. What didn't work - could you be more specific? D...

Re: I have a couple of Ren'Py Questions. Please assist me.

Positioning: Try it like this $ pos_flowers = Position(xpos=560, ypos=343) ... show Flowers at pos_flowers Colors you can define yourself: image black = Solid((0, 0, 0, 255)) image white = Solid((255, 255, 255, 255)) image cyan = Solid((100, 150, 204, 255)) Ah, and please change the title of your po...

Re: I have a couple of Ren'Py Questions. Please assist me.

As far as I remember, Ren'Py does not clean up the screen automatically, thus you should use a fullscreen picture which will delete what was there before. Alternatively, you can display the "black" scene which is a black empty screen, and only display your image afterwards (= on top of the...

Re: Are VNs too inefficient?

Tom, that's brilliant, definitely a very usable invention! Many commercial VNs don't seem to care about file size as they put things in mpeg, bmp and wav... It's always baffled me ^^; Well, if they sell it on CD or DVD they don't have to care. Although I think it's a tad bit unrespectful of them to ...

Re: Are VNs too inefficient?

Like mikey said, size is probably not the main reason for scarce popularity. But I do agree that a 7 MB download might be more tempting than a 150 MB one if you're on a dialup connection. (Then again, in a marketing sense, 150 MB might be better than 7 MB - "bah, how good can it be if it's only...

Re: Hybrid (cross-genre) games and ren'ai

Very good point - point taken. But I defined them as "acceptable" because they were too long for my taste, obviously added to make the story longer without requiring more story. If the map-walking part had been shorter I'd have liked the games more. I don't know "Nanoha Danmaku" ...

Re: Hybrid (cross-genre) games and ren'ai

The reason is that with a Shooter/VN, the shooter fan can complete the game, while the VN fan (we assume he isn't good with shooters) can't. So in order to finish a hybrid game, you must be good in its non-VN gameplay style. There is still the option of making the non-VN part easy. For example, a n...

Re: Felix, Gaijin [First Non-English Ren'Py release]

There is still the option of asking volunteers to speak into their ipods, but for someone who plans to eventually sell stuff, this won't be an option. That is one good hand the professional visual novel companies (mostly in Japan) have -- the infrastructure for voice acting. Even amateur circles ma...

Re: GO! Magical Boy

Thanks for your feedback, glad you liked it! It's nice to see that after 1,5 years somebody is still playing it. :) No, I definitely was not thinking about Klansmen or similar. The Shadows' picture is taken from the photograph of a statue in the Valle de los Caídos (Madrid/Spain). Note I don't advoc...
