Re: The Censor [Dystopian/SF]

Yes, I remember! Back when you released the demo, I thought the the idea of government observation was a bit quaint and that the future threats were in Anonymous and Internet anarchy. Then Edward Snowden burst onto the scene and I realised your vision might have more to it than I was initially willi...

Re: Possibly Odd Idea for Game Jam

A handful of years ago, Papillon organised the Adversity Competition; a handful of backgrounds were given, one sprite with various emotions, and some music tracks, plus a vague one sentence prompt. It was quite interesting, but had a few pitfalls: we ended up with 29 entries, which was quite a lot, ...

Re: Drew's Improvement Process [Critique More Than Welcome]

Good progress! If you're getting into shading, I think Loomis usually talks about the planes of the head in his books -- that would be a good place to study now. Thinking of the head as a set of simple shapes is key. I'm by no means a terrific artist, but I make a quick paintover; I think you're not...

Re: Art Dumpage! Show your art ^^

This is my first attempt at something like this. (Also, it's been a while, guys...) Anyway, my art is exclusively rotoscoping, so I tried a Hotel Dusk: Room 215 style. What do you think? I think that as a style that could work well, but even if you are rotoscoping, it would be a good idea to practi...

Re: Green Eyed Monster [Magical Girl][GxG][NaNoRenO 2015]

I made a piece of fan art in the form of a 3D model for this game, even if the model is a bit rough around the edges (though it's quite neat compared to the sketches I made, which you're not getting to see). I think I picked up some neat ideas while making it -- the wide mouth is just great and I ha...

Re: Art Dumpage! Show your art ^^

A 'master study' of sorts: I really liked the techniques that Auro and Rinslettuce used for The Blind Griffin's characters, so I did this quick test to see if I could steal some. I find that you notice and appreciate some things only when you try to copy them, such as the importance of line weight a...

Re: Green Eyed Monster [Magical Girl][GxG][NaNoRenO 2015]

I just played this today, and I really liked it. A good part of the reason I'm so impressed is that I tried to write this kind of difficult relationship stuff myself in the past and just failed absolutely miserably at it. That you can keep it up, keep it interesting, and keep it (almost) free of bad...

Carassaurat Hey, it's good to see you again! Thank you so much for playing and orz...I'm sorry I was so hyper when I finished the game that I didn't realize people would have to download the game twice :p About the art...Well I surely made a lot I admit but some things are obviously done desperatel...

Re: Charlatans[KN] [NaNoRenO 2015]

I played this just a few days ago -- unfortunately, with the unedited version -- and it's just charming. It's got clua written all over it. You always find a way to not just pick a midpoint between goofy comedy and gothic themes, but have a foot planted firmly in each; it's both light hearted and da...

Re: Binary Distortion [Kinetic][Slice of Life][NaNoReno2015]

Well, that was the most thought-provoking VN I've read in a while. Or possibly the most though-provoking one I've played in general. I'm really quite glad you've shared it with us. The surgery scene, in particular, is quite disturbing. It's a shame that the glitch style doesn't come across too well ...

Re: Indie/Free: Project Dualis [BxG]/Romance/Slice of life

Well, I was running it on Linux, but the error seems to be something that would affect all OSes. I don't know why it didn't crash for anyone else, but reading the code, the error seems to be there. (It might be masked on windows due to some weirdness with file extensions.) I think that's it; I made...

Since I haven't dared to make a WIP thread, here's what I am working on. I'm feeling a bit eh about this. It works, but it lacks charm somehow:

Re: Pick the forum members' brains for your game :)

What do you think about the historical figure, Joan of Arc? What does your religion think about her? I've been doing a research about her and browse through what Islam thought about her, whether she's really a holy warrior or she was idealistic. Since she was a Christian, I wanted to know how other...

Re: CGs instead of sprites and BGs?

Can't say I recommend this, because it's a ton of work. Unless you've got much experience drawing comics, you'll need cheats at least, such as 3D models, limited palette, and so on. That said, I did opt for this for the script I was working on — as a result, it'll probably never see the light of day...

Re: My Little Dictator [War][Romance]

To elaborate: it's not about 'endorsing fascism', it's about trivialising and making fun of the subjection, torture, humiliation, dehumanisation and industrial extermination of millions of people. There are a lot of ways of looking at World War II; concluding that it's really quite funny when you lo...
