I actually felt really great about my art until I decided I wanted to draw more professionally for visual novels and the like.

Now, even though I don't have a problem with my art, I can't help but feel it's not good enough for a game.

Personally, I have been resizing them and then cropping them. Figure out if you think the sides of the pictures or the top/bottom edges are most important and then resize them so that you can keep those parts after cropping.
