1. how can I test the Chinese rpy? Just copy it into the game directory. You may want to also edit the chinese_punctuation variable defined in that file, although I did copy in everything you mentioned. [/quote] I'll check out the bug in a bit. (Update) Stupid, stupid, stupid me. To fix the layout ...

I figure that one of these days I will reissue moonlight walks, with a number of minor bug fixes, and to update it to a relatively modern Ren'Py engine. I'm not really planning on collaborating with anyone to do that, however... The real thing would be to ship with less compressed graphics (which lo...

So what's the next level? Ren'Py already has a solid VN engine, a working DS engine... are there any longterm plans? Or simply improving and adding features on demand? Frak! Deer Park ate my post. And I had a fairly long writeup, too. Short version: No major plans. I think I've achieved parity with...

Ren'Py 5.1.0 Released
I noticed that it's been one year since the first public release of Ren'Py 4. In that year, Ren'Py has grown from a one-person thing to a community, about a hundred-strong, judging by the number of downloads each new release gets over the course of a month. Foremost among that community is the elite...

Did you know you can save huge amounts of money on shampoos and dry your hair with an ordinary towel? :P Well, the air-dry hair is possible with noticable longer hair. (I do it with my hair, which hasn't been cut in a month... rendering me a veritable hippie. It'll be cut in a week, when I get back...

Wow, those are really nice. Could you document your method, and the changes since the last time you posted? This may be a nail in the coffin of edge-detection backgrounds. As for hosting, what about some of the photo-hosting services, like flickr? While I could donate space for a free-to-use backgro...

I went to Otakon, but didn't have my own booth. I'm considering trying to get into artists alleys in future cons, but have no firm plans for that at this time. (There are some power and security implications that I will need to solve before I can do this.)
I wrote Otakon up more in this thread.

Take it in a constructive spirit. I wouldn't have wasted the time typing it out if I didn't have at least some marginal faith. Fair enough. I think you do raise some good points, which I think we will as a community need to deal with. I have said this before in other places, and I will say this aga...

I'm not sure what spirit to take that last comment in. I will point out that the staff of that one game roughly equals the size of the entire OEL game development community, and that there is a bit of a selection effect going on, as only the best games get translated, whereas we publish all games to...

Okay, I finished it. I'm not sure if sad is what I'd use to describe this game. In fact, I'm sure it's not. I don't want to give too much away, but I don't think the game's purpose was to make people cry, as in some other games. If you've been avoiding it for that reason, don't... you're missing a m...

Show your face, around these here parts
What the heck.mikey wrote:Hmmmm, avatars aren't really the best way to identify people. I remember something (roughly translated as) "show your face week" on one of the mini-communities I used to be a member of, it was fun.
