Re: How to properly loop music?
I've tried various combinations and edited the source file a few times (cutting out audio, redoing everything, rinsing and repeating, etc.). Tried: play music "Track_Start.ogg" noloop $ renpy.music.queue('Track_Loop.ogg', channel='music', loop=True, tight=True) Tried: play music "Tra...

Re: Does Anyone Know a List of Indie Game Publishers?
There is a very simple reason why Steam 'takes' so much of a 'percentage'. Of course, most people simply don't understand the way small businesses tend to work, and with Indie 'studios', this is becoming readily apparent in recent years. Steam witholds a Publisher percentage, as they are distributin...

Re: IO Error not working properly???
It may be something as simple as a formatting error. Editra seems to be finicky about this sometimes, either adding/omitting spaces randomly. You may also want to check to make sure that line is indented properly? That's all I can suggest without seeing the actual code. Have you tried just removing ...

Re: Steam DRM
But apparently even that wouldn't do much good, given how Ren'py games are built, so I'll just have to hope people won't bother to pirate a 2 dollar game. I realize that what I am about to say may not further this discussion, given the topic is solved, but I feel this should be mentioned: It doesn'...

Re: Ludonarrative dissonance and harmony in visual novels
I would argue however that different endings are still essential to games which employ a choice mechanic. Having one singular ending in a game employing choice makes the player feel cheated, like their hours of time have been wasted. I can see the logic behind this - in reality we make different ch...

Re: Get that thing off your chest... Now...
I shouldn't complain about my job. But sometimes, the sheer moronic ineptitude I have to deal with is pretty staggering. Tonight's example: Replying to an email that says "hey this problem we reported is now fixed DO NOT REPLY" to report an issue with your email services, except that the i...

Re: Where to Recruit More Members?
There is an old adage which is often repeated in the freelance world: Fast, Cheap, and Good. Pick two. That having been said, you've already mentioned DA and Reddit. I don't put much stock in Reddit these days - lots of folks leaving that. This said, there are still other places you can look. As muc...

Re: Ludonarrative dissonance and harmony in visual novels
I have to admit, this was one of the last places I expected to come across this topic... but boy am I glad there are folks thinking about this kind of thing. It's something I've been wanting to explore with my project - how to make the most out of the game mechanics to provide not just interesting p...

Re: How does multiple routes work with a single ending?
Hey guys. ps.: sorry if my english isn't the best (didn't taught in school) and chill, I have a very good translator in my team. This is a relief! I would hate to see a good story marred by poor translation - lord knows we got enough of that stuff in the 80's and 90's. (The truck have started to mo...

Re: Zeus [SwedishJazz] Draws - critique appreciated
That's a super good habit to keep. The Onyx study is really amazing. Great attention to detail. I had to do a few doubletakes to realize that thumbnail wasn't a photo at first glance. Great job! The environment is pretty nice as well. Feels like a speedpaint (which I am guessing it was), which isn't...

Re: Writing Style; 1st person narration VS 3rd person narrat
I was going to say that, primarily I see VNs done in first person - usually because the intention is to have the 'player' be in the shoes of the protagonist. That said, I think third person can work, but only if they are a Kinetic Novel - ie, a story that doesn't have any meaningful choices, if it h...

Re: female mc persona questions
I often find myself portraying females more often than males - there's a part of my brain that seems to prefer females for some reason when making characters. That said, I think something you should keep in mind that nobody here has mentioned yet is that an archetype is not the sole defining trait o...

Commenting on that commission you did: If you want to use stuff like this for sprites, one thing you'll want to keep in mind is that you will want to clean up the lineart at least on the edges. It's okay if there's some sketchiness inside the sprite itself, but you want to get rid of any dangly bits...

Re: Prism's Scribbles
I'm going to focus on your 3D works, since that is honestly what I have the most experience with. I notice that you're using cel-shading for most of your stuff, which isn't bad, but it really makes sharp edges pop out way more than they have any right to. Example: Those cafe stools look like they wo...

Re: Ren'Py 6.99.6 Released
Being new to RenPy, I'm not sure if this is an issue that's inherent with the engine itself, or a bug with the release, but I've noticed two things. First off, I've installed it on two computers - my laptop and home desktop. For some reason, when using RenPy on the laptop, I am unable to see anythin...
