Re: Game with Typed In Conversation

That kind of game are fun but the illusion is quickly broken if a lot of sentences are not understood by the character. Oh, I agree completely. It's one thing if once in a while the poor chat bot seems broken (or if the player truly is typing in nonsense), but if the syntax is constantly hard for t...

Re: Game with Typed In Conversation

People already enjoy games like that, so I wouldn't worry about the premise being annoying. I'm blanking on examples -- the only similar game I can think of is Façade (which came out in 2006). Not built with ren'py, but still heavily based on player input. I think it's a lot more effort to create i...

Game with Typed In Conversation

Hi all! Anyway, I've been playing around a bit with natural language processing and thought it could potentially be fun to create a visual novel in which you type to the character who then responds from a script of pre-determined responses based on what you type into a field. (e.g. the character mig...

The first part of the Eidolon walkthrough is posted here: viewtopic.php?f=55&t=57603

This covers basic strategy for the game. Character specific achievements will come sometime in the near-ish future!

Eidolon Walkthrough

Welcome to the Eidolon walkthrough! First – please do not use this walkthrough prior to playing the game. Much my goal in creating Eidolon is to make the player feel like they're a real student, wandering around through a real university, talking to people as they see fit and watching things unfold...

[open][free] Writer, Editor and Programmer Looking for Intriguing Project

Hey all! I just finished a project and wouldn't mind working on another, so am reaching out to see if anyone is interested in having me on board. Feel free to message me here or comment and I'll respond. More about me below. Background/Experience: I've published three VNs on my own, the most notable...

Re: How do you write "complex" characters?

One of the best bits of writing advice I ever got was to ask what your character would never do...then push them to do just that. Which isn't to say that this creates complex characters, but it is a really fun exercise. (Even if you don't use it.) I think as far as complexity goes, complex character...

I played and honestly? This is one of the cutest things I've seen in a while. I really loved the cat. (I talk to my dog like this, so it feels so real!)

Also the art and animations are phenomenal. They work so well with the game! Kudos! I can't wait to see more by you!!!!

Re: for expierenced NV developers/creators, what would you say to a first time VN creator?

I'd echo the "start small" advice and use as many creative commons or public domain assets as you can. Get a sense as to how long this will take (and how much it'll likely cost) to do even a small project before embarking on something huge. You may find that you *love* creating games and, ...

Re: Love Interest Mentioning Past Relationships

I agree with the above posters that it seems kind of weird for a love interest to have never had any kinds of love interests in the past. So bringing them up definitely doesn't bother me. With that said, like everything, it depends on execution. If the character feels the need to bring up, say, her ...

Re: How to decide your prices?

For example, where I live in the USA the minimum wage is about $8 an hour. Something else to keep in mind is that if you were making, say, $8/hr at a coffee shop (in the US, although I suspect this example holds true to some extent for a number of other countries), your employer would also be payin...
