Re: A question on play time.....
I started off this month trying to work on a "small project". The idea was to have a half hour of gameplay, but I saw that in order to truly tell the story to it's full extent, I would need to expand that length of time. I suggest starting off with a small project first, get some reviews, ...

true/false statement error
So I've been looking at this and can't seem to pinpoint what I've done wrong. First off here's the code: ##blah blah $ upstairs_done = False label kitchen: #imagemap statement #a long "if result ==" statement goes here elif result == "Upstairs": if upstairs_done == False: $upstai...

Re: DynamicDisplay/ConditionSwitch Issues
What's the traceback error say? It seems to me you're supposed to put everything on one line, rather than multiple ones like this:
$ f = Character('Freya', color="#B3476F, show_two_window=True, etc...)
All on one line, just like above.

All on one line, just like above.

Re: Help - Where can I find Non-Anime Visual Novels / Games?
Non-anime styles are done all the time, but they don't seem to get as much attention as the anime styles. I'm also currently working on a non-anime project that's taking forever :/

Re: Image button help (newbie behaving stupidly again D:)
Sounds like you're describing an image map. Yes, Ren'Py supports this. There's a section in the Ren'Py tutorial (the one you play) and here: http://www.renpy.org/wiki/renpy/doc/reference/functions/renpy.imagemap This should help you with placing custom position buttons as well by using the y and x v...

Actually, I caught myself the other day on calling the game a Visual Novel since it's more like a story book like sake-bento said.

I also agree with carosene. Recruit people after you actually get way into your project. I have a project I'm working on, and while I would love to have the art and music to add while writing, I don't want to drag people on board only to finish the game one year after taking their art.

Poll: Photo or artistic backgrounds?
So I've been thinking about my current VN project and came across a question: What kind of background style should I use? So I decided I'd ask your guys opinions on the matter. Which do you prefer to see in visual novels when playing them: Realistic photo backgrounds, or completely drawn backgrounds...
