I like ViNoWriMo, but I like NaNoRenO fine too.
I vote we stick with NaNoRenO; it rolls off the tongue, evokes the spirit of NaNo, and I think the story behind it (that it doesn't really mean anything) is cute.

I was actually thinking about how to go about that just the other day! I think that's how I would do it -- remove the existing save/load screen completely, then use renpy.save() to set autosaves at the beginning of each chapter, and make a new, tailored load screen to reflect the chapters available....

Thank you =D. Not bad for being designed in an hour and a half in the wee hours of the morning (then being coded in the next hour). Design is semi-borked in IE6 though (*sigh, the bane of my existence*), but I'll fix that later. Oh, my hate for IE6 knows no limit! My last hobby website was a Greek ...

I agree with mugenjohncel and Misu; open it up! I think, too, that the community is very Ren'ai oriented, but that opening it up to other concepts doesn't preclude making romantic games. I mean, most of us are probably planning romantic games anyway, so what does it hurt to allow those who have a di...

I was wondering what NaNoRenO stood for too, but after thinking about it, I think it gives a sense of what's going on even if it doesn't seem to stand for anything. For a tagline, how about 'The Ren'ai NaNoMangO!' or something similar? I like the colors on the web page, too -- very clean, very elega...

(feels scoffed at) :? I am confident there will be a high completion rate. People have been exposed to the microgame style of doing things, so its just building on the development process. Hehehehe. I'm not sure I'll actually finish, to be honest; this challenge is totally going to cut into my annu...

If you could convince people not to start their individual project topics, that could create a quick sense of togetherness - especially since we don't expect a large amount of participants. Sounds good to me! I wouldn't be comfortable starting a thread just for this anyway, I think. :) Progress so ...

Sign me up! Hehehehe, oh, wait, you already did. Thank you, and thank you for making the thread. :) Team... uh... Me is just me, writer and coder extraordinaire, at the moment, but if any artists would like a partner (and to save the eyesight of anyone who might stumble over the game if I end up hav...

Of course, if you can have the flashy stuff and the heart then you own all! Now, the hardest part is probably getting both in one game. And it's hard even for professionals to do! In every game I've ever played, while 'flashy' might get my eyes going in that direction, without a solid story and sat...

Hey, I'm not too worried if there are no artists available... I can draw fuzzy semi-anthropomorphic blobs, and I'm great at cute stick figures, and I once drew a bar scene that was only misidentified as an alien invasion by one viewer (coincidentally, the only person who saw that particular placehol...

If you're using the default round rectangle theme, you can open up the 'options.rpy' file that's made when you make a new project via the launcher, and on line 67 or so (about a page down) there's a place to change the game menu and the main menu. If you're not using the default theme (ie, you've de...

I think there's some merit in both sides of the debate, but that, ultimately, traditions like this one should be maintained. It doesn't hurt anything, and it's a fun challenge. So I guess I'm saying I'd like to go for it this year too! My art skills are, to put it mildly, lacking, so if any artists ...

Do you mean like auto-save points where the game saves itself without the player having to remember to do so? ETA (since I had to go try it!): I think that'd be renpy.save(), but I've never really played with it much. $ renpy.save('20', extra_info='Test') That puts a save game into slot '20' named '...

I'm not sure 'unskippable' is even necessary. I mean, when I play a game for the first time, I usually let the game do what it wants to. I watch the intro without clicking, try to click slow so I get the full intended effect of any fades or dissolves, read everything carefully so I get a real 'exper...

Hmmm, if there isn't one particular that you really would love to do, then choose the next project based on the technological requirements - read: which one is the easiest to make for you. This is sort of how I pick what to do next, except I usually go for 'what looks like an interesting challenge'...
