Re: Violence?

1- Can you stand the idea of violence (not necessarily sexual) in a renai/dating/bl game etc.? Sure, not a problem. I think I've yet to write a game where someone didn't get punched, shot, bitten, or otherwise injured. Hm. I just noticed that. 2- If you can: How much? I'd say quite a bit. Everythin...

Sadly, I have no projects at a stage that would justify tying your skills up, but I just had to comment and say WOW! those are gorgeous! My SO happened to glance over my shoulder and he commented how much he liked them too, especially the first one.

And welcome to the forums! :)

And for issues that someone younger starts game... you really thinks that he would not continue (talking about male users :D ) That's not the point. Of course kids who get it are going to keep playing anyway. It's so, when an irate parent calls you up and complains, you can say, 'uh, sorry, ma'am, ...

Re: I love ACG fan-centric industry and I love Visual News

So, I'm curious; what is it about the doujinshi method that was introduced by Japan, other than the name? How is it that it differs from the self-publishing small-run model that's been used by - say - English-language small-press comics (or 'comix', if you insist) for ages? I looked dojinshi up on ...

Okay, I'll take a stab at the easy one. # number between 1 and 10, inclusive (I think) $ rand_number = renpy.random.randint(1, 10) $ number += rand_number # number is now number plus random number There are a few different random functions at the very bottom of chapter 7 in the manual, too. For rang...

I can proofread! I'm even pretty good at it, or so I've been told.

For music, by the way, I have some great CC-licensed pieces I can point you to that sound like they'd fit the bill. Unless you want to go entirely original, which is even cooler.

And all it takes is one title to break the trend (i.e. extremely long development times, resurrected projects, hybrids, etc.) and others will follow. So you can bet once that first eroge is released, many more will follow. Note I am not talking about sex games. I am talking about 18+ story-centric ...

I was wondering, what exactly does "epic" mean in this case? I was planning on reworking Beowulf as a VN eventually... but I get the feeling that's not what's meant. If it's just a time thing, what's the range? If it's a scope thing, what qualifies there? I'm kind of between projects at th...

I'd love to see a new horror/suspense game -- well, as long as the horror isn't too horrific, as I'm kinda squeamish. I liked Divi-dead, though. And I definitely think romances are workable within the horror/suspense framework. It can be a really effective contrast, to have a bright spark of love ag...

I agree with what you're saying, Blue Lemma -- those are all fairly valid and reasonable reasons for why *not* to make a commercial game, and I've certainly thought about 'em (mostly reasons #2, #3 and a little #4) when considering making a commercial game. But why make a free game? It's for the joy...

Re: The reason you make free VN

Moreover, I create VN because my heart loves it, not because of money I like how you put that. That's why I do this too -- because my heart loves it. I like the challenge of programming, and learning new languages. And I like telling stories that other people can lose themselves in for a while. But...

After playing through the whole game the firt thing that came to my mind was: "WHY DIDN'T YOU PLAY THAT INTRODUCTION MUSIC SOMEWHERE IN THE GAME?!?!" *Ahem* Sorry, I just liked it very much :P . Isn't it great? That's a remix from CCMixter. Honestly, I didn't use it again because I didn't...

Note that "moderate violence" refers to "a singular act". So you could have a murder at the start of a mystery, or have someone get shot at the end, but you couldn't have constant bloody gun battles. I think it's the 'massive blood' and 'self-mutilation' aspects (am I a wimp or ...

I like the idea of a formal content rating system, although I have some reservations about how easy it'd be to implement and maintain. (And it wouldn't even occur to me to put together a game containing explicit adult content without a suitable pre-game warning and acceptance screen. It's only polit...

I don't care either way. I'm probably atypical in this... I like both methods. Guess it depends on the story, too. A story with multiple protagonists, each with a story line, would lend itself well to a pre-game viewing of the hero you've selected, just to 'set the scene'. Or one told in third perso...
