I downloaded Ripples and I have to say it's great. I expected to be able to affect the story, but it doesn't matter. Still, it makes a person think. And the voice is so nice to listen to...

Re: Dreams of the Skies
This was a beautiful story. I wish I could say more, but I'm pretty bad in talking about those things, so I just leave it this way: I liked it.

Re: HowTo: Make Ren'Py's CPU usage sane
+1 to limiting the default framerate And I'll just note that (AFAIK) movies in cinemas are running at 24 fps. If someone wants to run action mini-game or something in Ren'Py then 60 fps would be probably better, but just for VNs 30 fps will be probably more than enough. But in the end you can just a...

Custom transition error [FIXED]
Ren'Py crashes when using this transition:
Anyone has idea why?
(traceback attached)
Code: Select all
$ whitefade = Fade(0.25, 0.1, 0.5, color = (255, 255, 255))

Re: Need some assistance.
Hm... IIRC, it does require that format, unless you adjust the config variable that controls this. It may also automatically convert 22050 to 44100 as necessary, by doubling each sample. Okay I did some testing (Ren'Py 6.6.0, no config changes in case something changed in the new version). Ren'Py p...

Re: Need some assistance.
I'm pretty sure that it is either the resampling or low bitrate of the OGG why it sounds bad. But Ren'Py can play MP3 music too, so you don't have to convert it. So just use the MP3 instead. You MUST use 16-bit, stereo, 44100 Hz audio files with Ren'py. No you don't have to. It doesn't have to be an...

I used to be a contributor to Folding@home. Of course, me being me, at first glance I read: Fondling@home. I don't think that computers are THAT far yet. (: But before my computer become too noisy, I used to be in top 100 of the User Friendly team. Now with the new PSU it's quiet again, so m...

Re: JEdit
I think that jedit is a nice editor. The only think I didn't like was the way it's handling multiple files. I think it's confusing. There's a BufferTabs plugin that replaces it with tabs (and thus makes it much cleaner IMO), so it would be nice to have installed it by default.

Re: If you were a witch...
I'm kind of surprised, that no one mentioned the Discworld Witcheds yet. And talking about Discworld, the cat doesn't have to look cute. And who said you have to have animal as familiar. There is magical world after all... /me imagines having cute little fairy as familiar: The fairy walks on the tab...

Re: Backgrounds
hmm.. Did you do a brightness/contrast adjustment, and then poster edges? No, the pastel effect made it look this bright. I used Paint.NET , it has nice set of filters. How I did it: duplicate layer, Effects->Artistic->Pencil on upper layer, set blending to multiply, Effects->Artistic->pastel on bo...
