Re: Expanding the Community (was: Unique Opportunity)
He's not saying "stop making romance VNs at all", he's saying "stop assuming the default mode of a VN is romance and it's not complete without a set of romantic-interests to chase after". This is something that puts a lot of people off VNs. In fact, I'd say it's the second bigge...

Re: Expanding the Community (was: Unique Opportunity)
I believe especially because it ~is~ a hobby for me, I can put more passion (which is what shines through between your lines \^_^/ ) into my creations, because as it's not commercial I can make it more the way 'I want it to be' and less 'how it should be' to be 'commercially successful enough' . .....

Re: Expanding the Community (was: Unique Opportunity)
This is an interesting topic, indeed. Both Deji and Kinou gave some preety good points, but I think we're still forgetting one thing - VN's are a nieche in the western world . This is the true problem and it means that only a small group of people knows about them to a correct, certain point and eve...

Re: A question for RPG lovers: plot or combat?
Depends. For me, any visual novels with an rpg twist will always remain visual novels, that's why developers should focus on the plot, settting and characters. If it's otherwise, then we don't have a visual novel anymore, but a plot-wise, story oriented game. Neverthless all the gaming elements you ...

Re: MorningStar Zwei (NaNo 2009 late release) v1.2
If you want to play it badly, you can try to emulate a win XP enviroment through a virtual PC and it might work without any problems. For that, try Microsoft's Virtual PC or Oracle's VirtualBox (which is IMO better). Virutal Box is very easy to set up and it won't take you long. It's a bit a hassle ...

Re: Koihime From MangaGamer to be Delayed, Shipped w/out Voi
The whole point of the no-voices flap is that apparently they DON'T have enough of an audience and are not confident of selling enough to pay their costs and earn a little. For this title, yes. People aren't interesting in paying so much for such game and have only a vague possibility there will be...

Re: Question regarding wordcount / length.
We are prone to write more than it is needed. If you really have the feel, where the fragment has been written on a whim or sticked by force, it means it isn't neccessary. Toss them out. Don't be too descriptive - make sure readers only have the correct feeling and let their imaginations run wild, d...

Re: Koihime From MangaGamer to be Delayed, Shipped w/out Voi
In overall, the game is really nice but the prices are absurd from my point of view. With such statements, it won't make them all any good. I also think that there are plenty of better titles that MangaGamer could try to get. Honestly, even if visual novels are a nieche on western market the are ple...

Re: Touting
A already gave my opinion on this few times earlier. DO WANT. Honestly, it's few more steps to a our own FFD-esque system. Glad you're took some time to work on this, PyTom. Also, 'notify' doesn't seem a bad name for the function, although it feels like it covers only a bit of what it will be possib...

Re: Age differences for love
I completely agree with Neowired on this. Also, mind that in fiction everything is highly dependable upon writer, and by that I don't mean his writing abilities. It's all about HIS own maturity in the subject matter. I'll warn everyone, especially aspiring young wirters - you might don't know, won't...

Re: Android Ren'Py!
there's no sane way to package games, or use an existing game. Oh, by this you mean you will have to think of a different way for releasing the games? Or was it in the context of your last post? :) How do you foresee the release process of games on Android? Will it just be a separate launcher (diff...
