Re: How to create otome sprites?
This area is for Ren'Py related questions. You may be better off asking about that software in the related topic: http://lemmasoft.renai.us/forums/viewtopic.php?f=46&t=21515 Making transparent backgrounds will depend on which software you use: http://lemmasoft.renai.us/forums/viewtopic.php?f=4&a...

Re: making visual novels
If you want to save money, something like paint.net is free. Not sure what other people use that isn't super expensive.

Which version of romaji do you prefer?
My VN will use a reasonable amount of Japanese, and will be aimed at people who are learning Japanese. My intention is to have 2 ways to display Japanese: One using Kanji, and the other using Hiragana. The player will be able to select if hovering over a Japanese word shows Hiragana or Romaji. So my...

Re: Dealing with criticism (aspiring VN creator)
By "not care", I meant not take things to heart.
If we truly didn't care we wouldn't be here (in LSF).

Re: Adult Content in VN's - Is it needed? | Opinion gatherin
"Do I have to...?" No. The answer is no. You have the creative freedom to add or not add whatever you want. You should never feel like you have to add any particular content because that's what people expect. Of course this is in regards to writing. Functionality/control systems are a diff...

Re: Dealing with criticism (aspiring VN creator)
This all becomes irrelevant if you don't care.
We aren't goingg to change the world, but we can at least choose what to react to.

Re: Why do we write?
I'm a trespasser in this creative world.
I write because it is a requirement of visual novels, and visual novels are the most suitable form of media for my goals.

Re: Dealing with criticism (aspiring VN creator)
In an ideal world all criticism would be constructive, but that's extremely unlikely. We need to filter the noise from the signal. Sometimes people have valid points, but they're obscured by vitriol and posturing. Some criticism will be completely irrelevant. Pick and choose what you think is useful...

Re: Dark text, or light text--Which is better?
Wanted to mention that it's possible for text to have outlines.
This way the text will be readable, even if the font colour is similar to the background, if you are using a semi-transparent or invisible text box.
How this could be used
The nuts and bolts

Re: Dark text, or light text--Which is better?
Personally I prefer a dark background and light text.
This brings up an interesting point though. A lot of E-readers have options to switch between light or dark backgrounds and text.
Perhaps it would be worthwhile to include the same in VNs, sometimes?
Doesn't sound too challenging to add.

I don't have anything new to add, so you don't have to concern yourself with making me understand. I won't be writing any more replies.
And to be honest, your previous post was so incredibly long and devoid of any kind of formatting that I couldn't bring myself to attempt reading it.

Re: Rules on the Visual Novel as a Medium
What you claim to be doing and have actually been doing are not the same. Adding wall after wall of convoluted, contradiction-riddled philojargon won't change that. In no uncertain terms you've proclaimed that we are ALL doing it wrong and in the same breath claim to be helping to inspire and add de...

Re: Rules on the Visual Novel as a Medium
I love to analyze stuff more than actually trying to make anything Is there a name for that? The problem with CHOICE is that it means NOTHING content wise and is rather a shoddy way of WISH FULFILLMENT to get the girl in each path. Only in some cases. Of course people will take this comment persona...
