For a while, I tried to research alternate solutions to my problem (as in, I gave up and tried to find an alternative to Renpy) but when that didn't work out very well, I decided to try harder to learn GUIs. No, it does the opposite. Again, it is HIGHLY LIKELY that the ground image of the imagemap is simply blocking the background image from being seen. There are multiple ways to achieve what OP wants. making alpha false I believe makes it so the buttons are only active when the actual text is being hovered. Probably it's the imagemap is shown on top of the background, so you can't see any change. Even if I use two different backgrounds? I tried putting the idle+hover buttons on their own transparent image and made the two backgrounds totally separate. Shouldn't the If Statement still work in that case?
