Re: Shout For Joy, Share Your Happiness
I really thought all the programming that goes into making a VN would be so far over my head, since I have a learning disability, but everything is going great and it's easier than I anticipated and I just feel so relieved that I'm practically giddy.

Re: Looking for proofreaders
I could proofread. I'm decently good at noticing awkward writing, phrasing, dialogue, spelling errors and grammar mistakes.

Re: What defines a "visual novel" apart from other games?
I think games get labeled as a VN when the dialogue is portrayed through a text box (Either ADV or NVL) and there are characters on the screen usually in the form of sprites. Though that second part is optional. I think that if the game has that, most people would agree... And under those stipulati...

Re: Anti-Spam Questions
I'm going to say that a lot of these questions would be hard for me to have answered upon joining and still leave me confused even now and I've been browsing for a week or so. (I didn't know the 'py in Ren'py stood for Python, it's not a broadcasted fact as far as I know and I do know what Python is...

Originally the brunette was the MC but now I'm considering making the blond the MC as either would work. Or possible making both playable. They're just super rough...

Re: Do you play as same or opposite gender?
Depends on the genre of the game, but even then its kind of a little bit random. Most games I tend to play as a girl if available. If the game has set characters that are playable that are only male or only female, and example being Path of Exile, you want to play a witch, you're a girl, an assassin...

-snip- This is a really crappy situation and for that I'm sorry. Could you maybe promise yourself that you'd visit the grave, bring flowers, and say a private goodbye at another time? I know me personally, I avoid funerals but I have personal reasons for doing so and I cant imagine going to any fun...

Re: How to make commissioning art easier/safer for buyers
the truth is that there is no right way, just know your rights and start with rules that both understand. as far as payments goes, paypal is really the only way to hand off money to another person or risk thousand of dollars into a court battle (Tempus told the reasons why its never a fail safe pla...

Re: How to make commissioning art easier/safer for buyers
Fair enough. I'm not personally well versed in music but I've heard it stated before that it can be somewhat easier to pull in a new composure. I'm sure I wouldn't notice, especially if the overall ambiance of a secondary piece was completely different to provide a different mood. I also imagine swi...

Re: How to make commissioning art easier/safer for buyers
Yeah that seems to be the current method of buying with artists, Ryuno, but I've noticed the issue is mostly that if the artist finishes a few assets, but then can't finish other assets later the customer is losing out because they spent money on these assets, and now has to buy assets from a new ar...

Re: How to make commissioning art easier/safer for buyers
@Katta Yeah I do understand that a majority of the issue here is the artist holding on to their end of the bargain, and a promise of a refund is just a promise and even with a contract could easily be ignored with no real major penalty. Like others have said, filing a lawsuit on a 200$ dispute isn't...

How to make commissioning art easier/safer for buyers
To preface, I'm an artist thinking about offering my art for sale here on the forums and I noticed a notable rift between buyers and artists. A lot of buyers have stories of artists jumping ship half way into an agreed multi-part commission, lack of communication, and just a high risk on the part of...

Re: Has anyone used Kickstarter/Indiegogo?
Yeah that is one of the major flaws, building up a fanbase. The upside to it I think is that you can start one of these things, no risk and just let it build over time. As you spend time developing, sharing your ideas and progression, and building up what should be the fanbase for your game you'll a...

Re: Has anyone used Kickstarter/Indiegogo?
Hmm, I'm not sure how that would go, but you would definitely help easy any doubt of the project being finished, but at that point would it be worth it to donate to the project? There is another website called patreon that might be better suited for what you have in mind. There is no project require...
